Conduct a review of the literature relevant to your research project and write a paper summarizing what you have learned.

Effect of different lighting and amount of fertilizer on plant growth.
Instructions:
Before one undertakes a research project one needs to know something about the topic that you wish to explore. This provides you with valuable information on what is known (and hence, what is not known), standard techniques and approaches used in this research, and which laboratories are involved in the research that interests you.
Conduct a review of the literature relevant to your research project and write a paper summarizing what you have learned. The literature sources should largely come from the primary literature (that is professional journals that are peer-reviewed not popular magazines) although secondary sources (such as books and review articles) are acceptable if not overdone. This means your information cannot come from web sites, textbooks, etc. Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.com) is a good online search engine that provides recent literature.
Paper Guidelines
1) Remember that all information obtained that is not your own must include a reference citation in the text. We will use the citation format given by the journal, Frontiers in Plant Science.
2) Your paper can be organized into different sections, but as this is not a research data paper, there are no Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion sections. However, your paper will include a section entitled, “Literature Cited” at the end of the paper and again use the format given by Frontiers in Plant Science. Do not list a reference if it is not cited in the paper.
5. Paper length and number of citations will vary. However, you should need to include at least 10 primary references. You will be graded on the thoroughness of your review, your interpretation of the literature, and how well written your paper is. You should attempt to convey your message as clearly and as succinctly as possible.
