1. What are the main features of the regimes in post-communist Russia, post-revolution Iran and post-2000 Mexico?
2. Are the current Russian, Iranian and Mexican regimes best categorized as democratic or nondemocratic? Define and distinguish between participation (voting and elections, etc.), competition (between parties and candidates) and liberties (e.g. freedom of speech, assembly, press, etc.). What evidence supports your answer (use class materials)?
