Select a campus crisis (human, facility, or environmental) occurring from 1975-2019. Research the crisis through the following steps: 1.Characterize the crisis in the context of the three dimensions of the crisis matrix outlined in the Critical Incident Response PDF in the weekly readings. 1A. The Intro of the crisis 2B. the Discovery of the crisis 3C. The aftermath of the crisis 2.Summarize the nature of the crisis, including the historical context and unique characteristics/vulnerabilities of the impacted institution. 3.Analyze the crisis utilizing a model of crisis management (e.g. Zdziarski’s Cycle of Crisis; U.S. Dept. of Education’s Phases of Emergency Management). Discussion points may include: What planning, if any, assisted in mitigating the crisis? What preventive and/or mitigating steps (not taken) could have averted or reduced the impact of the crisis? Was there a crisis plan in place? If so, what elements of the plan were executed effectively? Were active management steps taken? If so, describe. What recovery steps were taken to assist individuals? What recovery steps were taken toward institutional healing?
