Like a movie review, a book review is a reaction paper allowing you to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the material. It is not simply a summary of the book (like a book report). For your final exam, complete an abbreviated book review (which should be a 6 to 12-sentence paragraph) that includes the following: A topic sentence that includes the title of the book, the author’s first and last name, and the main point of the book–in just one sentence.A sentence that states how well the author has succeeded in achieving his/her purpose (the main idea stated in the topic sentence). An evaluation of two or three of the book’s strengths and/or weaknesses. There should be at least one sentence that presents the strength or weakness, and then one sentence that supports that evaluation. Direct quotes are not necessary, but they are welcome. Use proper punctuation. A personal recommendation of the book for future readers. Here, you would simply act as though you are telling those considering the book what you think of it. Do you suggest they read it? Why? This should be one or more sentences and act as your conclusion.
