Discuss the application of the theorist’s ideas to present teaching practices.

In Chapter One of Unit 1, we learned that child development as a concept was not studied until the eighteenth century. In Units 1 and 2, we studied theorists who have influenced the practices of early childhood educators over time. Choose one historic theorist from the choices of Froebel, Montessori, Piaget, Vygotsky, Erikson, Gardner, Maslow, and Bronfenbrenner. Post a picture (or link to a picture) of the theorist and discuss in what way the picture represents his/her ideas and theory. State what fascinates you and what you would like to learn most about the theorist’s philosophy. Discuss the application of the theorist’s ideas to present teaching practices. Suggest ways in which you might be able to apply the theorist’s positions in your own teaching and/or personal life.
