Research the uses of derivatives from one of the following three areas: Business: optimization of revenue/cost/profit, etc. Economics: inflection points/diminishing returns/marginal analysis, etc. Social Sciences: population growth/urban planning, etc. Describe one or more things from your research that you found surprising and/or interesting. Why? (give details) Present one example that you discovered from your research that shows how the use of derivatives for that example provides information not otherwise available. What types of information? How can it be used? Anything else of interest? The presentation should be typed (very neat printing is an option) and will be graded on how well a first year calculus student can follow it and then be able to solve a similar problem.
