Why do the wealthy cities always dominate professional baseball?

REACT MODULE #2 UConn Women’s BB Too Good? In some sports a team or a few teams consistently dominate all other teams. UConn women’s basketball is one, though the last two seasons are a question mark, San Francisco Warriors, New England Patriots, New York Yankees, are other examples. In sports economics this is the question of competitive balance. Why do the Power 5 Conference teams always dominate college football? Why do the wealthy cities always dominate professional baseball? What is the appropriate balance? How is it to be achieved? Is dominance bad for the sport? Is dominance good for the sport? When there is persistent imbalance Should the rules be adjusted to level the playing field? Should the dominate team be put under intense investigation for rules infractions? For this module we will look at the example of the University of Connecticut’s Womens Basketball team in 2016 just coming off 4 consecutive final four victories. This is an issue that needs to be discussed. My special interest Group discusses this issue from the perspective of opposing Fan, that is to say, it is not a good thing for UCONN to be too good for women’s basketball. The requirement of this order is to only write points 23 and 5. Write at least three pages in total, and put a little more in the argument section. This is the essay requirement: The advisory group, summarizes and evaluates the testimony and makes a recommendation to the decision maker. Role Play: Play the role of the assigned interest group. Using the few assigned readings, suggested economic concepts that may apply, and other articles you may find, form an opinion representative of the interest group, and submit a persuasive essay and video testimony to the discussion forum for the topic. Be the advocate for your interest group. A template for the essay is available. A grading rubric is made available. Using an economic principle is one of the key expectations. Here are links to templates in Google Draw to draw graphs to represent economic principles you use in your essay and presentation. These are templates that you can modify by dragging, droping, coping, pasting, objects. Once you have the graph you want, make a screen capture and insert in your document. https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1MaZtFvMepWJ7YkX1U6AHi0lqIlVCxGtvLayS10WsU18/edit?usp=sharing https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1JWTon956QgoXuQgI6os_9gLMTcXHV5smgHIAQWlrRzU/edit?usp=sharing https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1Q4DAwhhWyg-oqf_Za8H5dq8GxUaGKNlwrQKJyTFcYZI/edit?usp=sharing I’ve also provided some links and examples of other interest groups, as well as Template of Eaasy. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2016/04/07/uconn-womens-basketball-ncaa-womens-tournament-tv-ratings/ http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2017/04/3-8-million-viewers-ncaa-womens-basketball-national-championship-three-game-ncaa-womens-final-four-nearly-20/ Should the competitive balance in D1 Women’s Basketball be changed? If so how? Real World Scenario: The University of Connecticut womens basketball team has been a front runner in D1 basketball in recent years. They have won 11 titles since 1995 and have had the longest consecutive win streak (111 games). Other teams including Notre Dame, Baylor, and University of Maryland have tried to dethrone the Huskys with little success. However, is the Huskys dominance good for womens D1 basketball? Does UConns womens basketball attract fans due to their quality play and coaching? Or do they deter fans due to their high probability of winning?
