OVERVIEW

Teacher evaluations were historically used for teacher retention or dismissal purposes. In this modern era, emphasis in changing to the use of teacher evaluations as tools from which teacher improvement plans are developed. This assignment provides opportunity for each candidate to use completed data from the observation instrument used in the video observation assignment to create a professional development plan for the video teacher observed. In so doing, candidates practice skills in data assessment and the use of data to strategically improve a teacher’s pedagogical skills.

INSTRUCTIONS

The candidate will:

• Develop two commendations for the video teacher observed from the highest rated items in the completed observation instrument.
• Develop one recommendation from the video teacher’s lowest rated areas in the completed observation instrument.
• Complete the Video Observation Professional Development Plan template.
