Activity Overview:
The reflective essay is your opportunity to actually reflect on your experiences, to try and make some clear, unified sense of the many learning opportunities you have had during this course. The essay articulates your feelings and thinking during class and the activities. As such, the reflective essay should provide vision for the person you are becoming as a result of experiences and/or knowledge gained through participation in this intensive.
Essay Format:
1. Introduce your paper stating a “general anticipation” for what your thoughts were coming into the class – possible negatives and positives, potential fears and desired blessings. * How to discern the different aspect of supervision in a educational setting.
2. Identify the most meaningful content (at least 2 aspects of supervision) emphasized in the course that better prepares you for becoming a more effective instructional supervisor. (Educational Supervisor Interview and Teacher Evaluation Analysis) Discuss how ideas presented improved your understanding of this administrative role. Explain how this understanding “opened your eyes” to unfamiliar aspects related to instructional supervision.
3. In your conclusion, offer elements (instructional methods) of the course that were beneficial and why as well as offering elements that could have been improved and how they could have been made more effective.
