Voting numbers continue to decline across America, particularly among young people (18-25). Less than 1/10 in this age group pay attention to political issues and even less are voting. Explain how this could be a significant issue, why this is occurring, and what can be done to fix it? Next, address two proposals that have been tossed around: Proposal 1) President Obama suggested that we make it mandatory for everyone to vote. Meaning that if you don’t vote, you have broken the law and must pay a fine. Is this a good idea or not? Proposal 2) Some suggest rewarding people to vote by paying them. Is this a good idea to pay everyone $50 to vote? Why or why not? If we do it, where will the money come from?
