Write an essay analyzing the mise-en-scene in Rear Window. To focus this broad assignment, choose one shot to analyze and include an image of it in the essay. You can pick a shot on your own or you can choose one of the ones I’ve randomly selected below. (In either case, be sure to include the image in the paper so I can refer to it as I read your analysis.) Pay attention to how the shot is framed, what kind of shot is featured and what the composition of the objects in the frame says about what Hitchcock wants us to notice and value. In other words, after describing what you see ,try to make sense of it as it relates to important themes in the film. Hitchcock is famous for creating elaborate storyboards like the one on the cover of our textbook from Psycho (1960). Every shot is meticulously detailed before production ever starts. So what is he trying to say with your shot?
