The research paper topic is: personal decisions vs. fate, consider how the decisions of Oedipus from Sophocle’s Oedipus Rex affect the plot of the play. Analyze whether Oedipus decisions were dictated by fate or by their own personal choices. Analyze how the outcome of their decisions contributes to the meaning of the work as a whole. My thesis is: Even tho Oedipus has free will, his fate affected the plot of the play because he did not know about the prophecy, his parents tried avoiding his fate, and that led to his downfall.
