Question Set Question Set link (above) gives you the questions you’ll be answer for the Assessment.  The Data Set link (below) gives the data you’ll need to answer the question set. Data Set The data set is six pages long, and gives all kinds of interesting information.  Pages 1-2 show the example of the survey that was given to the parents.  Note how the questions are coded.  For instance, in question 2 (Q2), if the child is male, the coded response is ‘1’.  If the child is female, the coded response is ‘2’.   For question 6 (Q6), a ‘yes’ response is coded ‘1’, a ‘no’ response is coded ‘2’, and a ‘don’t know’ response is coded ‘9’. Page 3 shows a table that gives the coded responses to the survey. On the left is the heading ‘Respondents’ Below that heading are numbers, starting with ‘001’ ‘001’ is the first respondent. ‘002’ is the second respondent. The heading ‘Survey Question Responses’ gives the answers that each person had to the questions.  ‘Q1’ is question 1 from the survey.  ‘Q2’ is question 2 from the survey. So the first survey question: “how old is your child?” was answered by all 20 respondents (001-020). The first respondent (001) answered question 1 (Q1) “13” (years old) The second respondent (002) answered question 1 (Q1) “5” (years old) The third respondent (003) answered question 1 (Q1) “7” (years old) The second survey question (Q2): “is your child male or female?” was also answered by all 20 respondents (001-020) The first respondent (001) answered question 2 (Q2) “2” (female) The second respondent (002) answered question 2 (Q2) “2” (female) The third respondent (003) answered question 2 (Q2) “1” (male) The sixth survey question (Q6): The first respondent (001) answered “1” (yes) The second respondent (002) answered “1” (yes) The third respondent (003) answered “1” (yes) The third respondent (004) answered “9” (don’t know)   Page 4 is qualitative data from the focus group discussion.  It is not coded in any way, but is directly quoted. Page 5 is another table recording asthma rates for Los Angeles County by race.  It shows the estimated total number (N) and the percentage rates (%) for children ever diagnosed with asthma.  Some have asthma now, some do not now have asthma, and the totals. Page 6 is another table recording asthma rates for the entire state of California by race.  Just like the county table, it shows the  estimated total number (N) and the percentage rates (%) for children ever diagnosed with asthma.  Some have asthma now, some do not now have asthma, and the totals.
