Write an evidence-based proposal to support the need for a nurse informaticist in an organization who would focus on improving health care outcomes.

As you begin to prepare this assessment, you are encouraged to complete the Team Perspectives of the Nurse Informaticist activity. Completion of this will help you succeed with the assessment as you explore the nurse informaticist’s role from the different perspectives of the health care team. Completing activities is also a way to demonstrate engagement.

Nurses at the baccalaureate level in all practice areas are involved in nursing informatics through interaction with information management and patient care technologies. Nurses must not only demonstrate knowledge of and skills in health information and patient care technologies, but also how to use these tools at the bedside and organizational levels. Moreover, nurses need to recognize how information gathered from various health information sources can impact decision making at the national and state regulatory levels.

Highlight the role you play in quality, safe patient care on a daily basis.

Identify a patient care case from your own practice experience that involves quality and safety. (pls use medication erorrs case)

Note: If you are not practicing or have nor practice, use a case that has received media attention or one from the textbook.

Evaluate the relationship between the patient’s care and the outcome.

Identify how the care environment affected the situation, including the nurse or provider, the patient, and the outcome.

Explain what actions you might take to improve the outcome or prevent an adverse outcome in the future.

1. Think of a time when you have worked with or interacted with someone from a different cultural cluster than the one in which you were raised. Describe some of these interactions, including some specific cultural dimensions from the readings.

2. Discuss a time when you were a part of a particularly effective change management process. What worked well and helped the organization implement the changes? Alternatively, you can discuss a time when you were a part of a particularly ineffective change management initiative. What caused problems?

Many managers do not understand the various ways that interest rates can affect business decisions. For example, if your company decided to build a plant with a 30-year life and short-term debt financing (renewed annually), the cost of the plant could skyrocket if interest rates were to return to their previous highs of 12% to 14%. On the other hand, locking into high, long-term rates could be very costly also with a long period when low short-term interest rates were to be available. As you can see, the ability to know your economic environment and its impact on projected interest rates can be crucial to making good financing decisions.

The United Nations uses the following definition to classify acts of genocide: “any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.”

For this assignment, you will be viewing both documentaries in class and will participate in a discussion about the film; you will then be writing a comparison/contrast essay about genocide.

Read the attached briefing and think about it and what you saw in the films. As you can see in the first documentary, the Nazis attempted and very nearly succeeded in efforts to commit an act of genocide against the Jewish people, as well as Gypsies, homosexuals, the mentally retarded and anyone else they believed were ‘undesirables’, or an estimated total of roughly 11,000,000 people killed. This is happening on a smaller scale now in numerous places, including Syria, which has been embroiled in a bitter, bloody civil war for many years, and is on the verge of becoming a full-blown genocide in Myanmar.

Genocides have happened many times in the recent past (Rwanda – approximately 1,000,000 deaths; Cambodia – 3,000,000; Armenia – 1,500,000; Russia -7,500,000; Bosnia Herzegovina – 38,000, etc.) There is, even now in the 21st century, still rampant antisemitism and a rise of violence and hatred against others of many faiths and ethnicities. Consider also the actions of ISIL, Boko Haram, Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups active today as well as current policies to restrict immigration by the current United States political administration and how such policies could conceivably foster hate.

Students will respond to the following prompt in their essay:

Compare and contrast the past attempted genocide of European Jews and others whom the Nazis declared ‘undesirables’ with the atrocities taking place today in Syria and Myanmar.

Be sure to answer the following questions completely and in essay form, using examples and support from multiple, reputable, academic and scholarly sources (NOT WIKIPEDIA!):

What similarities and differences do you find between the attitudes and actions of the victims, as well as leaders, local citizens and military members who perpetuated past and present genocides?

What, if anything, do you believe can be done to curb such behavior in the future? (This is a research paper, not a personal journal. Find experts who share your opinions and both refer to them and be sure to cite any utilized quotes, information and ideas using MLA-style references – also use in-text citations.)

Unit VI Case Study Two

While reviewing the organization’s 360-degree feedback reports, human resources (HR) staff member notices discrepancies in the feedback provided for the nurse leader in the ICU department. The individual’s supervisor has rated the team lead’s performance highly, but the team itself is dissatisfied with the way the team lead treats them. They see the team lead as rude, abrupt, and unwilling to listen to them. They are afraid to disagree, however, because the team lead berates them for voicing their opinions. The HR staff member has heard rumors about this behavior and asks to view the team lead’s performance self-evaluation feedback report. 1. What is the best way to address the team lead’s performance issues? 2. What is the best way to handle the request by the HR staff member to view the team lead’s feedback report? 3.
