Write an annotated bibliography that includes four scholarly sources and your primary source for a total of five sources. This annotated bibliography is to include a Thesis statement about your “research paper” at the top. Note: there is no longer a research paper due. I will give you topics for this annotated bibliography assignment. An annotated bibliography is essentially what you would use as a works cited for your paper AND is asked of you for research papers in advance. An annotation is a summary and/or evaluation. Therefore, an annotated bibliography includes a summary and/or evaluation of each of the sources. Each annotation should answer the following: 1. It should be indicated if it is the primary source of your essay. If it is not your primary source, then there is not a need to indicate that it is your secondary source. 2. You should summarize the source in 5-7 sentences. What is the genre of the source? Is it a nonfiction essay, historical fiction, statistical research, a sociology article? What are the main arguments? What is the point of this book or article? What topics are covered? If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would you say? The length of your annotations will determine how detailed your summary is. What part of the primary source are you investigating for your paper? 3. Assess whether or not this article is helpful for your paper. If it is not, then trash it. If you find it turns out that this was not a reliable resource, then trash it. Find another source. Think of how it compares to the other sources you used for your paper. Indicate how the source is used to write your paper. If it is the primary source, indicate which aspect of the source you are researching. If it is a secondary source, elaborate on how it helps establish prove your thesis. For example, if you are writing about Environmental Racism, and your article has statistics of brain hemorrhages, cancer, or tumor due to lead in the water, then state you used the article for statistical evidence. Indicate how it supports your thesis. Finally, please note that this assignment has a maximum as well as a minimum length; your bibliography must express all necessary information concisely, in such a way that it does not exceed the maximum length. Forbes writer and market researcher,Pamela Danziger, argues that essential employees need to pay their workers fairly, not only during the Coronavirus Pandemic but after it and that even the current pay raises are only a few dollars more than the current wage. Her commentary offers various reasons to support her claim. Others have also advocated for pay raises for essential workers while companies cite that they can not continue to pay increases after the pandemic especially since they will be working at full staff unlike now. What do you think? Please use information such as the reasons that Danziger claims for a permanent pay raise as well reasons given from the other source. You should also use your own observations as well to support your opinion.

Purpose: To use critical writing and critical thinking skills to research new discoveries and investigations in science. Use the popular media including newspapers, magazines, and the Internet Databases to locate a recent article about new scientific technological discoveries and new applications. You could research topics such as global climatic change, new going green technologies, alternative fuels, hazardous materials, chemical additives, environmental toxins, cloning/stem cell research, genetic research, nanotechnology, etc… It is important to find a topic that catches your interest and a topic that is meaningful to you. The article should be no more than one year old. You will be required to review, summarize, and respond to the article. You will need to write a minimum of 2 full pages. One full page must be a summary of the information presented in the article and one full page must be your reaction to the research and topic. Read the article completely and identify the author’s main point.
Highlight and define unfamiliar words. Look for the main idea of each major section.
Write down the main ideas as you perceive them. Insert parenthetical reference citations in APA format while drafting your critique.
Identify the author and determine the author’s relationship to the subject. What are the author’s credentials? Can he/she be considered an authority on the subject?
Analyze how the author supports his/her ideas with examples, facts, or opinions). Has the author convinced you of the main ideas of the article? Why and how?
What are the principal contributions of the science behind the article? (That is, why is the science being done — does it seem important to the environment, medicine, the human condition, etc.?)
B. Reaction to the Article (45%):
In your opinion, is the research justified, or frivolous? Does it deserve public funding and attention?
Does the article raise any moral or societal dilemmas? In your judgment, are those dilemmas valid, or are they ‘hype’? Does the article provide evidence that humans should change their behavior? Could these issues affect daily life in America or other nations? Will these issues present a positive and/or negative effect on living things?
Is your reaction to the article based on your own experiences or other reading that you have done? Did this article change your viewpoint on the science being reported? Explain.
Do you feel that the author(s) ignored certain evidence or alternative viewpoints? Did the author’s reasoning persuade you or do you think he/she made mistakes in logic?
Summarize your main points, and develop a strong position that you are prepared to support. Don’t be afraid to take a stand! If you think the research should be continued or discontinued, state your reasons.
