Course Description – Social Work 118 was a course that consisted of an introduction to the assessment and treatment of alcoholism and other drugs (AOD) problems, with emphasis on the application of specific clinical social work strategies. Since substance abuse underline or coexist with a variety of other problems, including family violence, mental illnesses and health issues, the social worker trained in the assessment and treatment of chemical dependency will better able to assess and intervene appropriately.
