Write a peer response on the Case Study “Everyone Does it”

In the harsh world of business, every manager is faced with ethical decision making on a daily basis. However, how we react and make ethical decisions is what sets apart from each other. Jim had an issue with the decision that his boss Fred made. This was because a Japanese contractor offered a profitable agreement for imaging satellites. They were also negotiating with two other major companies in competition with Fred. Fred made an unethical decision in order to stay ahead of his competitors. He lied to the contractor about the satellite launch date. When confronted by Jim his response was that it was an industry practice and that all the others were doing it. This raises questions because if Fred is true, then that would mean that the entire industry is full of liars and conduct their business unethically. If that is not correct about the industry it shows his customers that ISI is a company that thinks it is okay to lie to their clients. It is not okay to lie about the launch date. If Fred is worried about winning the contract solely because of the launch date then he could ramp up production and lesser quality. However, if at ISI they promote their quality and thorough inspections, then they can create a competitive advantage over others in the industry. He could explain why the launch date is going to be a little later. Even as easy as setting a range and agreeing upon plus or minus a few months. If I was in charge of ISI I would sincerely apologize to the Japanese and explain to them our enhanced quality control and stringent specifications for modifications and adaptability. It makes us the best in the industry because we do not settle for great we only accept the best. Our launch dates may be a little later but it is because of the immense amount of effort we put into making our satellites absolutely perfect

Describe Inequality and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Part 2 of your final assignment is to view and respond to the following news clips about how preexisting social inequalities, particularly of race and class, are determining who is most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Your response should be divided into two parts, and each response should be 600-750 words, for a total of 1200-1500 words (3-4 words). Part 2A. Watch this 20 minute clip and interview with an African-American doctor in Miami who was handcuffed by police outside his home as he was preparing to help the local homeless population dealing with the pandemic. After Dr. Henderson discusses this encounter with the police, pay close attention to what he says about how this pandemic (as well as previous hurricanes and disasters in Florida) have had especially severe consequences for the poor and unhoused populations he works with in Miami. Here is the clip:https://www.democracynow.org/2020/4/20/dr_armen_henderson_florida_fisher_islandWhat does this interview reveal about how social inequalities of race and class are determining how people are being differently affected by the pandemic? For example, pay attention to when Dr. Henderson talks about the different life chances and health outcomes for people in the predominantly nonwhite Miami neighborhoods of Overtown and Liberty City, in comparison with the millionaires on nearby Fisher Island.Part 2B. Watch this clip about the COVID-19 outbreaks in meat processing plants across the United States and activists who are demanding safer working conditions in these plants. The clip features the CEO of LULAC (The League of United Latin American Citizens), one of the oldest Latinx civil rights organizations in the U.S., and a young activist whose family members work in meat processing plants in Iowa. https://www.democracynow.org/2020/5/4/covid_19_meatpacking_plantsWhat does this story reveal about how workers at meat processing plants, who are predominantly immigrants, have suffered from COVID-19 outbreaks as a result of unsafe working conditions and the slow response of their employers? What are executives like the head of Tyson Foods saying about how the food supply could be disrupted? Consider how the Trump Administration has invoked the Defense Production Act to order meatpacking plants to remain operational despite the outbreaks: what does this say about how the government and meatpacking companies value their workers?
