Identify some of the director’s most important films. What honors and awards did the director receive?

FINAL PROJECT: Your assignment is to write a 5-7 page research paper on one of the following: (a) an important film director, (b) a specific film, or (c) the development of a particular element of film making.  The description of each of these options is below.Description of Project(a)   You should select a director who was active (directed more than 3 movies) during the time period of 1950 – 2000.  In your term paper, give me the basic details of the director’s life and career. Identify some of the director’s most important films. What honors and awards did the director receive? Provide a sampling of critical opinion about the director’s work (i.e. film reviews or articles). View at least two films by your director and comment on them (one of them can be a film you would have watch previously for the class). Do not summarize any plots. Write about how this director used the following in these films: Editing (montage), Sound and Music, Cinematography, Special Camera Work (steady cam, hand held, optical effects), Special Effects (this can include stunt work).(b)    Select one film of feature length made during the time period of 1970 – 2000. You are not to use a film already used by you, the instructor or the course content. In your term paper, you should present information about the making of the movie, about its success at the box office, about awards it was nominated for and/or received. Also present a sampling of the critical reaction to the film, from both the time of its release and later. Finally, you should watch the film and react to it. Do not summarize the plot. Assume that I’ve already seen the film. In addition, write about how this director used the following in these films: Editing (montage), Sound and Music, Cinematography, Special Camera Work (steady cam, hand held, optical effects), Special Effects (this can include stunt work).(c)   This option is more of a research option that the other two. You are to take a topic or item with in an element of film making and write a short research paper on its development. For example, if you want to write about camera development, take a more focused part of that broader topic such as the steady cam and use that as your subject. You do not need to get too technical in your paper. Some broader topics include: Camera Development, Projection and Viewing in Theaters, Film, Special Effects, Director Training, Actor Training, and Editing.PROJECT STAGES I.   Approval of TopicYou must get the instructor’s approval of your term-paper subject beforehand and no two students will be permitted to research and write about the same subject. First come, first served, so it is suggested that you decide what you would like to write about and submit it to the proper Assignment  (in person or by email) as soon as possible.   This is due no later than the end of week three. (NOTE) If you turn in a term paper without getting the instructor’s approval of the subject, the instructor reserves the right to reject it as unacceptable.II.   Outline and ResourcesYou must turn in an outline and a list of resources for your project no later than the end of week five.a.      Use either an Alphanumeric Outline, a Decimal Outline, or a sentence hierarchical outline.b.     The list of resources you expect to use includes website, books and films. This should be in the form of an Annotated Bibliography.III.   Final PaperThe final paper, with its bibliography, is to be turned in before the end of week eight.  The coversheet, bibliography, and any graphs or images, or appendix does not count toward paper length.  The body of the paper should have a one inch margin on all four sides, be doubled-space, and use a standard font style (such as Times New Roman, Courier, or Ariel) and font size (11 or 12).Project start/topic (Please edit with flow of paper) Mel Gibson’s Significance in Film in Early CareerMel Gibson was born in 1956 in Peekskill, New York. He then moved to Australia as a teenager and began his journey in acting. He then became known internationally for his starring role in the Lethal Weapon series by the 80’s. He directed his first movie in 1993, The Man Without a Face, which he was nominated for the “Young Artist Award.” By 1995, Gibson went on to direct and star in Braveheart, which made a huge success, winning five Academy Awards for: best picture, best cinematography, best director, best sound editing and best makeup and hairstyling. This movie that was shot in Scotland and Ireland and many of the sounds and music provided the audience with that experience. The intriguing scenes consisted of many cameras recording, computer- controlled stop-motion devices, mechanical horses and the creative use of sunlight. Gibson became very passionate about this project he took on and embraced the recognition of his masterpiece. —the 6th page is for the annotated bibliography

Pick 2 types of religious specialists discussed in class or in the readings. Using the readings and your knowledge gained in the course, critically compare and contrast them. Use Chicago Style in the author/date format to cite. Remember to define what a religious specialist is.I have attached some of the class slides for some extra information/understanding of the articles. You can use outside sources to supplement the 2 articles I have attached. The professor also mentioned that the Hutson article is a good example of the compare/contrast essay she is looking for.

Explain and describe the membership, voting structure, and primary goals and powers of the WTO, the IMF, the World Bank, the ILO, the ICJ, and the ICC (bullet points are probably a good idea for this one!)2.

One or two well-developed paragraphs should be sufficient, but, write as little or as much as you think is necessary to fully answer each question. Feel free to use bullet points if you think that doing so will be helpful; otherwise, use complete sentences and proper grammar. Finally, as always, assume that each question ends with something along the lines of “explain why” and “defend your argument.” Questions 1. Explain and describe the membership, voting structure, and primary goals and powers of the WTO, the IMF, the World Bank, the ILO, the ICJ, and the ICC (bullet points are probably a good idea for this one!)2. What features of the UN Charter make the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (the P5) so powerful? Why, in your opinion, has almost every state in the international system chosen to join the UN, given that it concentrates such tremendous power in the P5? 3. What is the nature of the conditions typically attached to World Bank and IMF loans? On balance, do you thing that these conditions are a good or bad thing?4. How much, if at all, do you think that norms shape and constrain state behavior? Do you think that Finnemore and Sikkink’s (1998) norm life cycle model accurately describes the emergence of norms? As always, why or why not?

Explain the concept of segmentation in relation to web analytics.

Create a discussion essay for the two topics: 1 PG per topicPost one main response to each of the two topics. Then respond to at least two postings from the team.Topic 3There are three key elements to be considered in any web analytics study like the kind MCS is doing for CompanyOne. These elements are (1) behavior, (2) outcomes, and (3) user experience. A powerful technique to gauge user behavior is segmentation. Explain the concept of segmentation in relation to web analytics. Some common ways of segmenting your site visitors are by new users, returning users, paid search traffic, nonpaid search traffic, direct traffic, referral source, landing page, browser, and mobile traffic, among hundreds of possible options. Recommend any five ways of segmentation to CompanyOne, including some that are not listed here, and discuss the relative merits of each.Topic 4In Google Analytics (GA), a funnel is a navigation path (series of web pages) that you expect CompanyOne’s online customers to follow in order to achieve the business’s goals for their website. A funnel is made up of a goal page (or pages) and one or more funnel pages (also known as the funnel steps). CompanyOne needs to choose either the Goal Flow Report or the Funnel Visualization Report in Google Analytics. They come to you for advice. What questions will you ask in order to arrive at your recommendation for CompanyOne? Explain your reasoning.

Explain Nozick’s entitlement conditions as well as his Wilt Chamberlain example and show how Nozick would evaluate the ethics of such a restriction.

In Mexico the average hourly wage is $2.43, while in the U.S. it is $24.57 — which causes many people to head north of the boarder in search of employment. Yet the current administration has promised to build a wall and further restrict immigration from Mexico. Explain Nozick’s entitlement conditions as well as his Wilt Chamberlain example and show how Nozick would evaluate the ethics of such a restriction. Next, explain Rawl’s theory of justice — including the veil of ignorance, the maximin rule, and the difference principle — and show how Rawls would evaluate it. Who offers the better argument? Discuss. Finally, how would you evaluate the ethics of such an immigration policy? Why? Elaborate at length.

Analyze the notions of “essential work” and “essential worker” in relation to race and ethnicity, class, and gender during coronavirus times.

1) 60%. Analyze the notions of “essential work” and “essential worker” in relation to race and ethnicity, class, and gender during coronavirus times. As a course in race and ethnic groups, we have naturally emphasized those identities and the inequalities associated with them. But let us also keep in mind class and gender. Both are important here because they overlap and differ with race/ethnicity in important ways in “normal” times and even more during this period. This is mostly a conceptual essay. Do draw on relevant course discussions, papers, readings, etc. but you are not being asked to do supplemental research.Begin byDiscussing the notions of essential work and workers. ThenDiscuss those in relation to race and ethnic groups. Refer to specific groups when necessary. Then,Do the same for class andConsider where and how those categories intersect (either during the above sections or in a separate section).2) 40%. Consider the twin crises of the economic crisis and the Coronavirus pandemic and their effects on racial minorities in relation to immigration laws and patterns of prejudice and discrimination including institutional discrimination from the 19th century until the present period. What is similar? What is new?

On New Year’s Eve Sober Stan sneezes while at the wheel of his car and accidentally plows into a family of four, killing them all. On the following morning Drunk Dan, inebriated after a night of partying, loses control of his vehicle and plows into a different family of four, killing them all.Was Stan free to do otherwise? Is he morally responsible for the deaths? Was Drunk Dan free to do otherwise? Is he morally responsible for the deaths?Briefly explain hard determinism, soft determinism, and libertarianism, and show how proponents of each approach would answer all of the above questions. Along the way, you’ll want to be sure to explain the difference between compatibilism and incompatibilism. In the end, which approach seems strongest to you here? Why? Elaborate fully.
