Something that stood out to me was the artists use of symbolism in his works such as “Tribute to Malcolm” and in the “Black Monolith” series. I was also interested on what influence his experiences during the civil rights movement has had on his future work. Explain how the personalities of workers, colleagues, managers, and subordinates impact your performance in, and experience of, the workplace.

In the next phase, ruminate on what you learned in your interview—especially anything that helped you gain a deeper insight into the topics you studied in the course—and write a research and reflection paper in which you draw upon learning shared with your instructor and colleagues, your individual learning, and knowledge you have gained from the interview to demonstrate a more in-depth understanding of the foundational principles of management. In your paper, go beyond recitation of memorized facts or regurgitation of information; strive to synthesize the most important topics of management (i.e., leadership, personality, motivation, decision making, communication, and the importance of good management to yourself and to society) into a hybrid research and reflection paper.Your paper should integrate responses to each of the following questions in a well-organized and coherent paper:Discuss the leadership precepts your interviewee imparted to you (or what can you glean on the topic as a result of your interview).Describe how the leadership precepts dovetail with one or more of the modern theories of leadership.Explain how the personalities of workers, colleagues, managers, and subordinates impact your performance in, and experience of, the workplace.Explain how the personalities of workers, colleagues, managers, and subordinates interact with one or more leadership models to create the most effective work environment.Describe one or two tenets of motivation theory have you taken away from the course, in light of your interview, the leadership model(s) you have discussed, and your own personality.Discuss how your understandings of motivation theories impact your conceptions of the best practices when it comes to making decisions and communicating at work. Based on your interview and on learning from this course, summarize what it takes to be an effective employee, a successful manager, and an exemplary citizen of society.Your well-written paper should meet the following requirements:Be 8-10 pages in length.Be formatted according to the CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA. (Links to an external site.)Cite at least five scholarly sources, at least one of which is not provided in, or linked from, the course, to support your assertions and strengthen your arguments. Provide examples.Research Question: Provide a brief summary of the article’s purpose and findings and specifically identify its data collection methods and potential errors. Note whether the data collection was related to qualitative and/or quantitative data.***You will reply to 2 classmates’ threads. At least 1 paragraph in length. They must be on the same page but LABLED WHO’s is WHOSE. The first paragraph should be labeled (Douglas Barfuss) and the other one should be labeled (Nathan Leveille) ***Nathan Leveille “Transgender Athletes and the Queer Art of Athletic Failures”, by Mia Fischer and Jennifer McClearen relates to my research question about transgender athletes participating in girl’s or women’s athletics. This study included interviews of a transgender MMA fighter, Fallon Fox, and her story on becoming the first openly transgender fighter in MMA history. This study highlighted a term known as transphobia in today’s sports. Transphobia relates to the mentality that transgender athletes have an advantage when competing against cisgender women, even if they have had hormone therapy (Fischer, 2019).This study concluded a couple of different points. If a transgender athlete goes through hormone therapy there have been studies that provide scientific information that their characteristics are similar to cisgender women. For example, the research concluded, “The first-ever study of MTF trans athletes released in 2015 showed that as testosterone levels approach female norms, trans women experience a decrease in muscle mass, bone density, and other physical characteristics, which together “lead to a loss of speed, strength, and endurance—all key components of athleticism” (Harper cited in Petrow, 2016).The data collection for this study was a qualitative interview and critical discourse analysis. The main participant in this study was Fallon Fox, a transgender MMA athlete. The data collected from Fallon was done so in interviews and documents. The subject was semi-structured interviewed about her story leading up to a career as a transgender athlete. Documentation about the athlete provided the study with the hormone treatment that the athlete had gone through. The focus group in this study included professional athletes and other prominent figures in athletics that provided statements about transgender participation in women’s athletics. The issues I found with this particular qualitative research were the type of interview that was conducted. Although it was not stated this interview would appear to be semi-structured. In this structure, the researchers could curve their questions to get the information they would want to hear (Skinner, Edwards &Corbett, 2015). The researchers stated that they wanted to research sex segregation and transphobia in today’s sports, which they did prove in some instances. It was convenient that all the individuals they interviewed supported the theme of their study. As we learned from proper data collection methods its good practice to pull all members from a population. The researchers only interviewed Fallon Fox. There were no interviews with other MMA fighters. They should have had a sample from the population of MMA fighters and their opinions on Fallon Fox competing in women’s MMA to truly prove transphobia. The research discourse analysis did provide some counterpoints to their argument, but the researchers determined that there was not enough scientific evidence to support one cause or the other. The researchers could have provided counterpoint and then debunked that with scientific evidence.Douglas BarfussIn the following article Elite Football Players’ Perceptions of Football Turf and Natural Grass Surface Properties by the following authors Roberts, Jonathan, Osei-Owusu, Paul Harland, Andy Owen, Alun and Smith, Aimée. The study is elite football players’ perceptions of playing surfaces from across the globe. It also states that Using a questionnaire, which was developed based on an initial study, elite players’ perceptions of differences in surface properties between natural and artificial (football) turf were examined. In total, 1129 elite footballers, representing 43 countries across six FIFA confederations completed the questionnaire. Both qualitative and quantitative were used for the qualitative it was either the grass field or the field turf and what is the difference between the two and how players liked playing on each surface. For quantitative different ages were chosen and with that different levels of experience playing on different surfaces that was used to help generate numbers as needed for the survey. The study found that by using a questionnaire it was more beneficial and more productive to be able to generate the results that the authors sought out to get. An issue that I found was that the world of soccer is so broad from amateur to professional to the school and even club level I think by having more than one questionnaire based on what level they were at some of the younger players may not have even played on field turf also areas of the world some do not have field turf so the selection process had to be very specific in setting up this questionnaire.
