Note what you have learned and/or any insights you gained as a result of the comments your colleagues madeHERE IS THE DISCUSSION THAT YOU WILL BE RESPODING TO:Hello Class,IntroductionThis writer will post an analysis of how her personal definition of leadership has changed or expanded since she has begun this course. She will explain at least one significant idea or experience from this course that may be of value in preparing her for the future as a supervisory or administrative role.Definition of leadershipThe definition of leadership in the beginning was about how a leader trains an employee, how they conduct themselves that earns respect without demanding the respect, and the way they improve on existing structures of the organization. The leader should state his or her vision to others and allow others to create a piece of that vison.During this course, this writer learned that her skills and abilities are much in balance with one another and that relationships and tasks for example are both a priority for her. The significance of completing tasks is vital at the end of the day, it helps to prepare for tomorrow. The ‘Sundown Rule’ ensures that this writer has tied up all the loose ends before the sun goes down, make those calls that were not completed earlier or at least let that person know you will call them first thing in the morning. The most significant experience from this courseThis writer feared she would be perceived as a commander, but it turns out that she is a great listener, too. This writer will continue to work on four main areas within herself and in the organization she works in, they are: the climate, relationships, communication, and meaning. This writer believes that a positive climate, allows leaders to foster relationships and create the kind of environment for employees to thrive in, by having compassion, forgiveness, and gratitude (Northouse, 2018). People feel encouraged and are more productive when they are in a positive environment.Positive relationships foster positive self-images and strengths rather than negative images and weaknesses. Leaders should acknowledge and build on people’s strengths which encourage the employees to do the same, which extends to positive communication (Northouse, 2018). Lastly leaders should foster positive meaning by connecting employees values to the values of the company and showing how that impact can impact the longevity of the company. The one thing this writer lacks is technical skills; she would benefit to work with someone who was knowledgeable in Excel spreadsheets and other platforms. Conclusion The definition of leadership did change for this writer. She believes that leaders come with their own set of abilities and skills and that a leader will complement the skills of the staff. This writer strives to be relationship based but needs the list of tasks to ensure she is meeting her goals. Ultimately, she will continue to work on the main areas to create those positive relationships, and foster positive change. ReferencesNorthouse, P. G. (2018). Write a brief narrative on how you would cast certain roles in Oedipus Rex and Richard III in a way that speaks to current events.

Dear Class,To say this semester has been challenging for all is a gross understatement. Still, we formally examined Oedipus Rex and Richard III (and looked briefly at Paula Vogel, August Wilson, the development of “Frankenstein” for National Theatre, and the development of Broadway). In the end, the art of theatre is a way of experiencing humanity in an artistic medium. Indeed, “acting” has been defined as “human behavior under imaginary circumstances.” When actors step onto the stage, they are “standing in” for other humans in an effort to create some measure of identification with that character, situation, and the outcomes that follow. This suggests that there is some “responsibility” placed on the part of directors and producers to consider casting minorities in productions so that there is more representation in Theatre. This has been done with great success (think “Hamilton” on Broadway). So, if a white male plays the role of Richard in Richard III, what are the implications? What group does the production most directly lend itself to and what groups are left out? Alternately, if an African-American male plays the role of Richard in Richard III, what are the implications? For our final exam, I’d like you to write a brief narrative on how you would cast certain roles in Oedipus Rex and Richard III in a way that speaks to current events. NOTE: You MUST connect your choice in casting to the respective play AND identify the current event that it relates to.Oedipus Rex characters that you must “cast” and write about: Oedipus, Jocasta, Tiresias (look up these characters to jog your memory)Richard III characters that you must “cast” and write about: Richard, Richmond, Lady Anne Be creative. To use a cliche, think “outside the box.”

Write an essay analyzing some specific questions, a philosophy, philosopher, or topic that seems important to you.

Have you ever considered why you do the things you do? Why you think what you think? Why do you get-up in the morning? What keeps you moving forward in life? What are your personal beliefs about your life? God? Death? Heaven? Hell? What matters to you – what does not? Is success important? Is family? Are your possessions important to you? How do you know there is anything after you die? What is the ultimate meaning of life? What about relationships? How do they impact you? Are they important? What is love? What is faith and hope? What is religion? What is knowledge? What do you see as ethical or unethical? How do you define your morals? What conduct do you find especially distasteful and why? What bothers you about immorality? Why? What do you use a guide to make ethical choices? What gets in the way of being ethical? Why? Are there things that are always “wrong”? Is money the most important thing or just an annoyance? What is important to you? These are only a few of the many questions you may think about each day – and if you’ve never thought about them, now’s your chance. This essay serves 3 main purposes: 1. To help you clarify or develop you own philosophy about your life; 2. Determine what’s important to you -what your values are; and 3. Review, question, and perhaps change some of the assumptions you’ve been making about “truth.”Consider this assignment a chance for you to explore these questions – and any others you might think of as the class progresses. Write an essay analyzing some specific questions, a philosophy, philosopher, or topic that seems important to you. Finally, you will write a concluding paragraph where you tie it altogether and briefly note what you hope to do with your new (or re-hashed) life philosophy. If you’ve never written a paper like this, no problem; not many people have. In fact, it’s better if you’ve never written a paper like this before now. Remember: this is NOT a research paper. While you can do research and you can use sources, they are not required. You’re not researching a topic so much as you are reading and researching areas of interest to you on a personal level, then picking the ones you like (recommend selecting 1 or 2) and describing how they might help you develop your own life philosophy; how do they all fit together – or do they not fit together? Are you an atheist? Are you an existentialist? Are you someone who only lives for pleasure -a hedonist?Think about these things as you read about them in the book and in class; listen to the ideas from your classmates; listen to the dialogue in the films we will watch. Listen and take notes; consider the class a chance to ask all those questions you’ve always wondered about – but had no idea what forum they should be asked in; ultimately, we want to know what is truth – and what role do the assumptions we make have on what we think is “true.” In short, we want to know what does all this stuff we call “life” and “reality” mean? Why is there something rather than nothing? Why are were here – and where are we headed? Why am I here? Where am I headed? Does it even matter? This essay is your chance to find out – peek at what some of the answers might be for you; to either affirm what you already know or question what you think you know – or perhaps question the question. One thing is certain: if you take advantage of this opportunity seriously, you will leave the class with more than you had when you began. You will have at least questioned the reality of your own existence; you may not understand it any more than you do now, but you will raise more questions about your own reality – about life itself; most important about your life and how you are living it – how you will live it – and how you will face your own mortality. As Descartes once wrote, it’s essential that at least once in our lives we question everything we think is true; only then can we know what it is we don’t know; and there’s a lot more that we do not know than we do know, regardless of how smart any of us are. My job is to help you refine your ignorance so that you will be in a better position to know what to question – and what not to question; for there are some questions that cannot be answered in this life and we must be willing to live with that uncertainty and accept it. Being able to sit with the discomfort that philosophy often brings is part of its power and you can use that to learn more about your own life – so be sure to use this assignment to discover what you think you already know; learn about what you might not even knew existed, and live the examined life – as Socrates once wrote, “The unexamined life is not worth living.”
