Explain how the human body could be considered 90% prokaryotic.

1) Explain how the human body could be considered 90% prokaryotic.

*Questions 3 – 7. Use supportive evidence from the assigned reading and at least one additional source per question.

*3) How could the bacterial microbiome impact obesity?

*4.) What is Clostridium difficile and why is a Clostridium difficile infection so difficult to treat?

*5.) How can bacteria impact cardiac disease?

*6) How might the bacterial microbiota affect type 2 diabetes?

*7) How can bacteria impact autoimmune diseases?

8.) How does Vibrio fischeri control bioluminescence?

9.) Define pathogenicity and virulence.

10). What are anti-quorum sensing molecules and what might they replace someday?

Explain how healthy cell activity contributes to good health.

HELLO, THIS IS THE FIRST DISCUSSION. THE INSTRUCTOR HASNT PRESENTED ME WITH ANY CASE STUDIES YET, BUT WANTED TO ORDER TO ENSURE IF I MAY HAVE A WRITER TO HELP ME ALONG. SO THE FOCUS WILL BE ON THE DISCUSSION FOR THIS WEEK. IT SEEMS CONFUSING, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK FOR CLARIFICATION.

Module 1: Foundational Concepts of Cellular Pathophysiology is a 2-week module, Weeks 1 and 2 of the course. In this module, you will examine fundamental concepts of cellular processes and the alterations that lead to various diseases. You will evaluate the genetic environment and its impact on these diseases. You will also evaluate the impact of patient characteristics, including racial and ethnic variables, on physiological functioning.

Week 1: Cellular Processes and the Genetic Environment
One of the more common biology analogies refers to cells as the “building blocks” of life. This rightfully places an emphasis on understanding cells, cellular behavior, and the impact of the environment in which they function.

Such an understanding helps explain how healthy cell activity contributes to good health. Just as importantly, it helps explain how breakdowns in cellular behavior and alterations to cells lead to health issues.

PLEASE THIS IS A DISCUSSION I HAVE TO POST.****************
This week, you examine cellular processes that are subject to alterations that can lead to disease. You evaluate the genetic environments within which these processes exist as well as the impact these environments have on disease.

Learning Objectives
Students will:

Evaluate cellular processes and alterations within cellular processes
Evaluate the impact of the genetic environment on disease

Discussion: Alterations in Cellular Processes

At its core, pathology is the study of disease. Diseases occur for many reasons. But some, such as cystic fibrosis and Parkinson’s Disease, occur because of alterations that prevent cells from functioning normally.

Understanding of signals and symptoms of alterations in cellular processes is a critical step in diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. For the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), this understanding can also help educate patients and guide them through their treatment plans.

DISCUSSION
For this Discussion, you examine a case study and explain the disease that is suggested. You examine the symptoms reported and explain the cells that are involved and potential alterations and impacts.

To prepare:

By Day 1 of this week, you will be assigned to a specific scenario for this Discussion. Please see the “Course Announcements” section of the classroom for your assignment from your Instructor.
By Day 3 of Week 1
Post an explanation of the disease highlighted in the scenario you were provided. Include the following in your explanation:

The role genetics plays in the disease.
Why the patient is presenting with the specific symptoms described.
The physiologic response to the stimulus presented in the scenario and why you think this response occurred.
The cells that are involved in this process.
How another characteristic (e.g., gender, genetics) would change your response.

Social Deviance Experiment.

Pick an action/behavior you could do for a day that would fall outside of societal norms. Do something that deviates for your usual behavior. Examples: you could stand backwards in the corner every time you ride an elevator, wear fancy clothes to a casual event etc. Be creative and have fun with this experiment! After completing this activity write a 1-2 page summary of your experiment. Explain what you did and why. How did you feel doing something outside of behavioral norms? How did the people around you react to your out of the norm behavior?
