What are some of the major issues and challenges humans will have to face in order to achieve sustainability on a global scale?

Prior to beginning work on this final paper, review all chapters of Bensel and Carbone’s Sustaining Our Planet text (2020). In this paper, you will explore what a future sustainable world might look like, and in the process of doing so, extend your previous descriptions of selected terms and explain how they may play a role in aiding us in achieving environmental sustainability on a global scale. The Journey to Sustainability Imagine a future (probably a long time from now) in which human beings have achieved environmental sustainability on a global scale. That means that we as a species have figured out how to maintain a lifestyle that can go on indefinitely. Humans will exist in harmony with their environment, not needing more resources than can naturally be replenished. What would such a world be like? How might we get there from here? In this final assignment, you will play the part of science-fiction writer, imagining and describing what a sustainable Earth, inhabited by humans, might look like in the distant future. You will need to provide examples throughout to support your descriptions. You should include all the terms that you have researched during Weeks 1 through 4 of this class, underlining each term as you include it. Be sure to expand on your terms and include other concepts that you learned in the course. Provide as detailed a picture as possible of how that future world might function on a day-to-day basis. In your paper, use grammar and spell-checking programs to insure clarity. Proofread carefully prior to submitting your work. Finally, you will submit the document to Waypoint. Your paper will consist of seven paragraphs using the format below to address the elements with the assumption that environmental sustainability has been achieved: Paragraph 1: Describe how the human relationship to nature will be different from what it is at present. Examine how humans will cope differently with the ways that natural phenomena like hurricanes affect lives. Paragraph 2: Describe what Earth’s biodiversity and ecosystems will look like in a sustainable future. Explain what humans have done differently to enable biodiversity and ecosystems to function sustainably. Paragraph 3: Examine how agricultural production will be different in a sustainable future. Paragraph 4: Differentiate between how humans will manage water resources (fresh water and ocean) in the sustainable future compared to how it is done now. Paragraph 5 Examine how humans will meet their energy needs in the future in a way that will enable maintenance of a sustainable, habitable atmosphere and climate. Indicate the changes that humans have made that are enabling them to maintain a healthy atmosphere and climate for all. Paragraph 6: Describe how waste management will be different in a sustainable future. Indicate the changes have been made to how humans think about and treat what is currently called “waste.” Paragraph 7: Summarize some of the major social, economic, political, and ecological choices and tradeoffs that will need to be overcome for this sustainable future to arrive. What are some of the major issues and challenges humans will have to face in order to achieve sustainability on a global scale?

Analyze the extent to which this emergency might affect the quality of care provided to the patients and the unimpeded operation of the organization.

You have just been hired as a new Vice President of quality and safety for a full-service 600-bed government healthcare organization.  Within your first month on the job, the national security threat level has been raised to Imminent, which means there is a credible, specific, and impending terrorist threat against the United States, and your facility may be directly impacted. The Chief Executive Officer has requested an immediate six to eight-page report of your proposal for handling such a situation. Note: You may create and /or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment. Write a 6-8 page paper in which you: 1.     Examine the existing procedures related to at least four (4) of the ten (10) essential public health services. Focus on the principal effects that these procedures will have on your hospital during the emergency. 2.     Specify the importance of continuing to evaluate patients, as stipulated by the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), during the emergency. 3.     Detail three (3) measures that you would use in order to maintain the electronic medical record system during the emergency. 4.     Defend your position on the decision to accept health insurance during the emergency as a potential source of income for the facility. Provide support with at least three (3) examples that illustrate your position. 5.     Analyze the extent to which this emergency might affect the quality of care provided to the patients and the unimpeded operation of the organization. 6.     Use at least three (3) quality references. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Write a paper in which you explore the history of corrections

Write a paper in which you explore the history of corrections. Include the following in your paper: The forms of punishment used through the 1700s The mission and role of corrections The history of prison development The history of jail development Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Describe the interview process you would use to select eligible candidates

You are the school principal at George Madison Elementary. You are required to create a staffing plan for the next school year that includes identifying areas in which additional staff will be needed. You will also create an interview process to determine the most eligible candidates.   Your superintendent has informed you that you will have $225,000 more in your staffing budget for hiring additional employees. These extra hires would result in a staff beyond what will need to be replaced because of teacher attrition. Your superintendent has also provided some assumptions for how far the additional funds in your staffing budget can be spread. The costs associated with new hires are as follows: Teachers with zero to four years of experience with only a bachelor’s degree usually require $61,000 (including base salary plus benefits). Teachers working five to nine years with a maximum of a bachelor’s degree usually require $71,000 (including base salary plus benefits). If teachers have a master’s degree, $4,000 is typically added to the base salary.   Besides hiring new teachers, you have considered hiring for positions that do not currently exist in your school. For instance, teachers increasingly notify you of the need for addressing students’ mental health issues. So you have thought about hiring a social worker (which generally costs $86,000, including base salary plus benefits) or school psychologist (which typically requires $93,000, including base salary plus benefits). You have also considered hiring a technical support analyst (which usually costs $81,000, including base salary plus benefits) since increasing enrollment has resulted in a demand for more technology support. REQUIREMENTS A.  Create a staffing plan for the next year, using the information in the scenario and the “Staffing and Enrollment Reports” attachment, by doing the following: 1.  Recommend the positions that you would hire. a.  Justify your hiring recommendations by addressing the following: • budget • student need • class size • instructional space • projected enrollment • teacher attrition • best staffing practice • relevant law or policy   Note: Justifications may incorporate law and policy from your state or local district.    2.  Provide a chart to represent next year’s staffing plan that includes the following: • classrooms • teacher assignments • class sizes • grade sizes   B.  Identify the selection criteria you would use for each position you recommended in part A1, including the following: • education requirements • licensure • experience • soft skills     Note: Soft skills are defined as the attitudes, personality traits, interpersonal skills, and communication skills necessary for an effective educational practice when working with all stakeholders (e.g., students, colleagues, community members).   C.  Describe the interview process you would use to select eligible candidates, including the following: • number and type of interviews per candidate • order of interviews • collaboration with faculty, staff, or other stakeholders 1.  Justify the interview process by addressing each of the following: • alignment to selection criteria from part B • best interview practice • district policy related to personnel or employment practices • federal law related to personnel or employment practices • state law related to personnel or employment practices

(Quantitative Reasoning and Analysis) Week 6: Discussion: Research Design and t Tests: How Are They Connected?

Discussion: Research Design and t Tests: How Are They Connected? Whether in a scholarly or practitioner setting, good research and data analysis should have the benefit of peer feedback. For this Discussion, you will perform an article critique on t tests. Be sure and remember that the goal is to obtain constructive feedback to improve the research and its interpretation, so please view this as an opportunity to learn from one another. To prepare for this Discussion: Review the Learning Resources and the media programs related to t tests. Search for and select a quantitative article specific to your discipline and related to t tests. Help with this task may be found in the Course guide and assignment help linked in this week’s Learning Resources. Also, you can use as a guide the Research Design Alignment Table located in this week’s Learning Resources By Day 3 Wednesday Write a 3- to 5-paragraph critique of the article. In your critique, include responses to the following: Which is the research design used by the authors? Why did the authors use this t test? Do you think it’s the most appropriate choice? Why or why not? Did the authors display the data? Do the results stand alone? Why or why not? Did the authors report effect size? If yes, is this meaningful?

Create a research question using the General Social Survey dataset that can be answered by multiple regression.

Discussion: Estimating Models Using Dummy Variables You have had plenty of opportunity to interpret coefficients for metric variables in regression models. Using and interpreting categorical variables takes just a little bit of extra practice. In this Discussion, you will have the opportunity to practice how to recode categorical variables so they can be used in a regression model and how to properly interpret the coefficients. Additionally, you will gain some practice in running diagnostics and identifying any potential problems with the model. To prepare for this Discussion: Review Warner’s Chapter 12 and Chapter 2 of the Wagner course text and the media program found in this week’s Learning Resources and consider the use of dummy variables. Create a research question using the General Social Survey dataset that can be answered by multiple regression. Using the SPSS software, choose a categorical variable to dummy code as one of your predictor variables. By Day 3 Estimate a multiple regression model that answers your research question. Post your response to the following: What is your research question? Interpret the coefficients for the model, specifically commenting on the dummy variable. Run diagnostics for the regression model. Does the model meet all of the assumptions? Be sure and comment on what assumptions were not met and the possible implications. Is there any possible remedy for one the assumption violations? Be sure to support your Main Post and Response Post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA Style. By Day 5 Respond to at least two of your colleagues’ posts and provide a constructive comment on their assessment of diagnostics. Were all assumptions tested for? Are there some violations that the model might be robust against? Why or why not? Explain and provide any additional resources (i.e., web links, articles, etc.) to provide your colleague with addressing diagnostic issues.
