Discuss how each assay may reflect a patient’s health conditions.

Urinalysis Report  (50  points) Report  Due  Date:  October  18  at  11:59  PM   Submit  the  report  on Blackboard  at  Testing and Submission Center  folder   Urine Analysis  of  urine  composition  and  properties  is  often  used  to evaluate  the  function of  the  kidneys  and other  organs.  This  procedure  is  called  urinalysis.  A  urinalysis involves  three  aspects:  physical  characteristics,  chemical  analysis, and microscopic  examination.  Physical  characteristics of  urine  include  volume,  color, transparency,  and odor.  The  chemical analysis  of  urine  addresses  the concentration  of  solutes  such  as  glucose,  protein,  ketones,  bilirubin,  urobilinogen, nitrite,  leukocyte  esterase  and hemoglobin.  The  specific  gravity  and  pH  of  urine are  greatly  influenced  by the  components  and  amounts  of  solutes.  An  examination of  microscopic solids including  cells,  casts and  crystals assists in  the  diagnosis of injury,  various  diseases,  and  urinary  infection. This report should be considered a professional laboratory report, so avoid using idioms or layperson language in your report. Be creative and tell what you want to say in a clear and precise manner. You may start with a short introduction, but do not spend too much on the introduction, and try to focus on the actual assays in your report. If your statements are inaccurate or unclear, you will lose points. How many points you may ask? The answer depends on the inaccuracy of statement. I will evaluate each case separately when I am grading your report. There is NO specific format for the laboratory report; however, the report must include the description of every chemical assay in the routine urinalysis including the confirmatory assays. Provide a BRIEF description of each test and its limitations. Indicate what abnormal 1 results may suggest and whether there are any interfering substances which may mislead the investigators. Discuss how each assay may reflect a patient’s health conditions. You will lose points for weak diction and grammar, so make sure to review and edit your final report before submission. Once submitted, you cannot retract the report and will be graded accordingly. The report should not exceed maximum of 5 pages (not including the title page and references).

Evaluate the characteristics, purposes, benefits, strengths, and weaknesses of research methods.

In the text box, provide a brief narrative of 3–4 sentences that evaluates the learner’s response and provide a rationale for your correction. If you decide that the statement is correct, state why you agree with their approach. Competencies Measured By successfully completing this assignment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assignment criteria: Competency 1: Analyze the methodology used in scientific research. Evaluate the qualitative research approach for the scenario provided.  Evaluate the quantitative research approach for the scenario provided.  Competency 2: Evaluate the characteristics, purposes, benefits, strengths, and weaknesses of  research methods. Evaluate the literature review for the scenario provided. Evaluate theory for the scenario provided. Evaluate the introduction for the scenario provided.  Evaluate the purpose statement for the scenario provided. Competency 3: Evaluate ethical issues in research studies. Evaluate the ethical considerations for the scenario provided.  Competency 6: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and consistent with the expectations for members in the identified field of study.

Describe the patient’s presenting problem focusing on the pathophysiological issues.

Students are required to submit a critical discussion paper related to the nursing management of Mrs. Jane Smith case study below, with  the support of literature. Scenario: Mrs. Jane Smith is an 80 year old woman who was admitted to ED at 1730 with the history of unwitnessed fall. She was found on the floor by her son. She was unable to stand up.  In ED she was found to be in excruciating pain. Her right Leg appeared to be shortened and internally rotated. It was noted she had multiple bruising over her right arm and face and a 4 cm laceration to her right lower arm. She was administered intranasal Fentanyl 100 Mcg by the Ambulance crew. Her Vital Signs: Bp – 147/77 mmHg, HR 112/mt – Irregular, RR – 24/min Spo2 – 99% RA, temp; 37.2 GCS – E3 V4M6 = 13/15. Mrs. Jane Smith had blood taken. She a chest x-rays, which was NAD, and Right hip XRay which revealed # neck of femur. She CT scan of her head has been ordered, which is yet to be done A – Allergies – Penicillin M – as mentioned above P – Hypothyroidism, HTN, AF, IHD multiple falls L – Last ate around noon E – Events – Does not remember events leading to the fall   The critical discussion paper should address the following issues: What data deviate from normal findings, suggesting the needs for further investigation? What additional information should the nurse ask or question for? Describe the patient’s presenting problem focusing on the pathophysiological issues. Identify 2 nursing diagnosis that needs immediate interventions and discuss the nursing management appropriate for the patient and evaluations of the nursing management plans presented in the literature. Explain the pharmacokinetics of the prescribed medications in ED and their indications. Discuss nursing management of the prescribed medication in ED, the adverse effects of the medications, contraindication, and side effects, with the age of the patient in mind, using evidence-based literature. Describe in detail the information you would share with the patient and how you will educate the patient about the interactions and long-term effects of the regular medications of Mrs. Jane Smith.                             The critical discussion paper should address the following issues: 1. What data deviate from normal findings, suggesting the need s for further investigation? 2. What additional information should the nurse ask or q uestion for? 3. Describe the patient’s presenting problem focusing on the pathophysiological issues. 4. Identify 2 nursing diagnosis that needs immediate interventions and discuss the nursing management appropriate for the patient and evaluations of the nursing management plans presented in the literature. 5. Discuss nursing management of the prescribed medication in ED, the adverse effects of the medications, contraindication, a nd side effects, with the age of the patient in mind, using evidence – based literature. 7. Describe in detail the information you would share with the patient and how you will educate the patient about the interactions and long – term effects of the regular med ications of Mrs. Jane Smith after the acute problems are solved.

Define any social support that may exist to cover health care in both countries.

Demographics and epidemiological transitions result in dramatic changes in the health needs of individuals throughout the globe. In recent times, there has been increase in the prevalence of long-term disability in the population—causing increasing need for long-term care services. In addition, the present developing world is experiencing an increase in the demand for long-term care services at a cost much lower than industrialized countries. Prepare a report in a Microsoft Word document comparing the US long-term care system with the long-term care system of a developing country. Research the South University Online Library and the Internet to find relevant content. Include the following information in your report: What are the chronic illness trends of each country? What is the incidence and prevalence of elderly consumers of long-term care in the United States as compared to your chosen developing country? How does each country expect these numbers to change in the next ten years? What are the main characteristics of the elderly population in both the countries? Is there any difference in the long-term health care needs of consumers in both the countries? Provide a rationale for your answer. Who are the institutional and non-institutional caregivers in both the countries? Support your answer with relevant examples. Explain the factors that affect care giving in each country. Is there any difference in the status of quality of care of the elderly consumers in the United States as compared to the developing country? Is there any difference in the health care cost provided in the United States as compared to the developing country? Define any social support that may exist to cover health care in both countries.
