Write a paper comparing Factors that Lead to Underdevelopment.

This assignment calls for you to select two Less Developed Countries (LDCs) and assess if there are any factors that are common to both as far as their development is concerned. Your two countries must come from the following list:  Burundi Benin Cameroon Nigeria  Nicaragua Guatemala Central African Republic North Korea  Angola Ghana Chad Yemen  Eritrea Cuba Congo Thailand  Egypt Iran  Equatorial Guinea Zimbabwe  Zambia Oman Ethiopia Philippines  Congo Liberia Gabon Bahrain Tanzania India  Guyana Mexico El Salvador Lebanon Honduras Pakistan Syria Guinea Kenya Sri Lanka Algeria Gambia Mozambique Senegal  Malawi Indonesia Namibia Vietnam  Morocco Myanmar Rwanda Haiti  Sudan Bolivia Somalia Kuwait  Mauritania Mali South Africa Iraq  Botswana Bangladesh  Tunisia Niger  Libya  Malaysia Uganda Panama Source: United Nations, 2014 It may help you to be familiar with the concept of poor governance, because this often plays a significant part in why a country is underdeveloped. According to the World Bank, governance is defined as how power is exercised in the management of a country’s economic and social resources for development. Therefore, if good governance is synonymous with sound development management, then poor governance means a government has failed to deliver desirable outcomes for its people. This could mean that officials are corrupt, not transparent with their decisions, unqualified to make decisions in the first place, or prone to make decisions based on racism, tribalism or ethnicity — all of which are very common practices in LCDs. The most common factor used to decide whether countries are underdeveloped nations is through the Human Development Index. Countries that are underdeveloped in nature offer poor health care, few educational opportunities, a low average life expectancy, a low number of job opportunities, few recreational facilities, poor economic growth, a low standard of living and a poverty-stricken life. Instructions: Write at least a six-page paper, in which you:  Identify the two LDCs (from the list above), which you will compare and assess. Explain why you chose these two countries.  Analyze the features that the LDCs have in common using at least five of the following nine factors (clearly label the five factors using headings):  geography  extractive institutions  governmental corruption  internal or external conflicts  shaky financial systems  unfair judicial systems  ethnic, racial or tribal disparities  lack or misuse of natural resources  closed (statist) economies  Use at least seven credible sources. Wikipedia, encyclopedias, dictionaries, blogs and other material that does not qualify as reputable academic source work at the college level. Do not use sources that are older than seven years. Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements: Be typed, double-spaced (no extra spacing between paragraphs), using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.  Citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions. Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date (do not include an abstract). The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length. Graphs, tables and photographs are not counted toward the length of the paper; only what you have written as text itself. The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are: Determine why private investment, open political competition and the intelligent use of natural resources can serve as incentives to further economic development. Decide why good governance, a sound financial system, and a fair system of judicial justice are necessary to development. Assess why enforceable environmental regulations are critical to sustaining development. Use technology and information resources to research issues in sociology of developing countries. Write clearly and concisely about sociology of developing countries using proper writing mechanics.

Five days after the events detailed in your last assignment, Paula returns to work at Capstone Corporation. Unfortunately, she used her company e-mail to send her mom a personal note about her injuries, despite being aware that Capstone’s company policy prohibits use of company e-mail for personal communication. Paula’s supervisor, Mikey Manager, discovers Paula’s violation and Paula is reprimanded. When Paula goes home, she uses her personal computer to post disparaging comments about her boss and Capstone Corporation on social media. The next day, Paula is fired from her job. After several days of bad luck, Paula believes her luck is about to change. She finds a new job in a nearby town. Paula had been using the bus to go to work at Capstone Corporation, but she will need to purchase a car to commute to her new job. Write a presentation over Postcolonial Theory.

This is for a powerpoint presentation. i am not sure if people do this type of thing on here.  For this final project, you will be creating a presentation over Postcolonial Theory. Initially, “postcolonial” was applied to literature originating in the waves of independence from previously colonized regions of the world (1950s–1990s). Nonetheless, the effects of those colonial relationships are still ongoing. An ethnography is a study of people and cultures.  So, for this project, we will be studying the people of our 21st-century world.  Think of it as an opportunity to display your acquired knowledge and push the ideas past our discussions of the literature  There are three parts that you must include in your Final Project submission: Summary: Provide a summary of postcolonial theory. What is it? What is it concerned with? How is it a tool for looking at the world today? Why is it important? Consider when and how it emerged as a school of thought and give concrete examples to anchor your explanations. The goal of this section is to demonstrate your command of the theory and reflect on its intended purpose. Reflection: Choose the postcolonial theme that has most resonated with you this term. Discuss yourself and your experiences in relation to that theme. Be specific, taking your reflection beyond general observations. The goal of this section is to demonstrate in what ways the theories have been relevant to your life or have caused you to reflect on your experiences. Application: Locate two (2) 21st-century texts that you find promising for postcolonial analysis and perform a succinct analysis of each. Remember that a text is any cultural artifact. What themes emerge, and what are the messages about those themes? How does the theory illuminate your experience of the text? The goal of this section is to take the theory beyond the texts to identify how the concepts apply to the world around us. Make sure you are creative. You want to pick a work that was written (or created) in the 21st century (so 2000 onward) that explores post-colonial themes. This does not mean you have to pick a book. You can pick a few photographs, a movie or two, etc. I know the assignment says texts, but it also specifies that text refers to any cultural artifact, so seriously, have fun with it. Some fun ideas: poetry The Hunger Games (movies or books) Zootopia Moana Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive Series Game of Thrones (series or books) Black Panther Really, if you can explain the connection to post-colonialism, it will be approved. You also want to consider how it is going to come across to the audience. Add music, narrate your presentations, etc. Just make sure you consider the visuals and what it will look like. Ask someone else to review your presentation before you submit it, so you get it from the perspective of its delivery from a different point of view. Make sure you include a references slide at the end. There is not a minimum number or maximum number of slides, use as many as you need to get your point across, but I would expect there to be at least one slide per topic.

Discuss the advantages of knowing how to use counting techniques in the context of the scenario you created.

For this Critical Thinking assignment, you will apply counting techniques to real-world scenarios. A random password generator is a computer program, hardware device, or online tool used to generate passwords using a set of parameters like length, letters, numbers, symbols, and strength (Nicholas, 2016). Suppose that you want to create a password of four characters in length that can only include lower case letters and numbers from 0 to 9. Part I: Answer the following questions: Assuming repetitions are allowed, how many passwords are possible? Assuming repetitions are not allowed, how many passwords are possible? Assuming repetitions are not allowed and there must be exactly two numbers, how many passwords are possible? Assuming repetitions are not allowed and there must be exactly two numbers, located at the end of the password, how many passwords are possible? Assuming repetitions are not allowed, there must be exactly two numbers, located at the end of the password, and that the letters can only be vowels, how many passwords are possible? Part II: Based on your work in Part I, discuss the following: Explain your thought process to answer questions one through five in Part I. Identify which counting technique you used to answer each question. Could you have used any other counting technique to answer question one, Part I? Justify your answer. Could you have used any other counting technique to answer question two, Part I? Justify your answer. Compare your answers to questions one and two in Part I. Elaborate on what happens when repetitions are allowed versus not allowed. Compare your answers to questions three and four in Part I. Elaborate on what happens when you restrict the location of the two numbers. Explain how you can use a tree diagram to answer question five, Part I. Do not actually include the tree diagram. Compare your answers to questions one through five in Part I. Reflect about the security of passwords as more restrictions are added. Think of another scenario where you can apply counting techniques. Discuss the advantages of knowing how to use counting techniques in the context of the scenario you created. You must submit two files for this assignment. The first file should contain the computations, graphs, diagrams, etc., associated with the questions in Part I. This file may be formatted as a numbered list of answers. Unless stated in the problem, a narrative discussion is not required, but you must provide enough information to show how you arrived at the answer.
