The data set provided for the final paper was collected from 75 criminals who have committed crime more than once. These criminals participated an experiment, which investigated the success of various treatments methods to decrease crime rates. In the beginning of the study participants were questioned about their family history of committing crime (percent of people in the family who committed crime) and they also completed a reliable and valid scale measuring their tendency to have anti-social personality (from 0 to 67, 0 being the least tendency, 67 being the greatest tendency). After they completed the questionnaire, the researcher recorded the number of crimes committed in the last six months as ‘pre treatment crime rate’. Then participants randomly assigned to one of the three treatment groups, which were Jail, Public Service and Rehabilitation. For six months participants completed their treatment. At the end of the sixth months the participants were released. Six months after their release the researcher followed them up to record the number of crime they committed after they were released and coded it as ‘post treatment crime rate’.For your final paper please write a detailed report to answer the following questions:1. Is there a significant relationship between participants’ crime rate before treatment and tendency to have antisocial personality? 2. Please interpret the findings of the first question and discuss the importance of the result.3. Is there a significant difference between the treatment groups in terms of their first crime rate?4. Please discuss why to answer the third question is important for the study.5. Which of the treatment methods works better? To answer this question you need to consider the difference between post treatment crime rate because the larger difference between the groups demonstrate better success of the treatment. (Hint: To check one-by-one differences you need to run a post hoc analysis). Please decide which analysis is the appropriate one to answer the question and report your findings in APA format.6. Please provide a figure shows (bar chart) the mean of the pre- and post crime rate separately for each treatment group (Hint: In order to make the differences more apparent, you can modify the scale of the chart).7. Please discuss the findings of the fifth question. What the results mean? How and why are your findings important?8. How well can the percent family members who committed crime predict participants’ crime rate before the treatment?
Objective: Demonstrate understanding of the best-practices associated with survey development.Engage in a healthy debate on the value of survey research in Public SafetyIdentify suitable questions within the World’s Value Survey that relate to Public Safety.Use analytical reasoning to create a survey instrument for use in Public Safety.Assignment DetailsSurvey research is still one of the most common ways to collect data in the public safety system. In this discussion, you will explore the World Values Survey (WVS). Specifically, you will discuss the range of questions asked on the WVS, explore how and why questions are worded in specific ways, and find questions that have value in public safety. The specific steps are as follows:Review the 2010–2012 WVS.Read this overview of best practices in survey design.Find at least 5 questions from the survey that you believe display best practices, and share those with the class. Explain why these questions reflect best practices. Find at least 3 questions from the survey that you believe have value in public safety.Explain why you believe these questions have value.Engage in a discussion with your classmates concerning your agreement with their selected questions. Robert Magnus Martinson was an American sociologist whose 1974 study “What Works?” concerning the shortcomings of existing prisoner rehabilitation programs, was highly influential. It later became known as creating what became known as the “nothing works” While Martinson was a sociologist, his “What Works?” publication gained national attention and arguably impacted the perspective of many key legislators, important legal minds, and millions of Americans. Please answer the following questions.1. Describe Martinson’s sample. Where did he get the data used in his study from?2. Summarize what Martinson believed about prison rehabilitation as indicated by the conclusion he reached in “What Works?”3. Is Martinson’s study methodically sound? Why or why not? In answering this question apply the concepts that you have learned in this class. Consider concepts like sampling, secondary data, and how Martinson categorized certain types of “rehabilitation.”4. Why do you think Martinson’s article gained so much support?
