Compare and contrast transactional, transformational, and charismatic leaders.

The study of leadership is full of ideas from the popular press (some good, some not so good) and scholarly research. Many of these ideas exemplify what leadership is by comparing it with an alternative that may not be leadership, or different types of leadership. The goal of this assignment is to describe opposites within the concept of leadership. Answer the following questions – relying on Kotter’s reading, the textbook (Ch 12 & 13), and your own experiences: *What is leadership? *How does leadership in a work organization differ from other contexts such as politics, sports, and the military? *Decide on an example of an excellent business leader (one as a group) – describe why they are excellent. *What is the difference between leaders and managers? *Compare and contrast transactional, transformational, and charismatic leaders. *Define servant and authentic leaders, including an example of each (from business or any other field).
