The Health Care Issue Project – Reflection Paper should consist of five sections, which are each one to two paragraphs. The paper should include at least three references. The paper will only address one health care delivery issue focusing on as its theme of Governance, Management, & Accountability (Chapter 14 in your text). The paper’s sections should: 1. Identify the issue. The issue should be selected from the learner’s APPLY section activities in weeks one through five, class discussion forums, student research or course readings. 2. Describe why the issue is important. This section should begin with, “The issue is important because…” which is followed by a one or two paragraph explanation of the result of the issue. Issues could be associated with a lack of access, substandard care delivery, increased cost, inefficient use of resources, lost opportunity for improvement or revenue, ineffectiveness, etc. The impact of the issue should be described and include at least one supporting source recognizing the issue as a concern. 3. Provide example cases of the impact of the issue in one or two case descriptions. Example cases (one to three) should be chosen that help portray the real and practical application of the issue. If the issue is access, a story should be located that describes a real event in which a lack of access demonstrates a problem or lost opportunity for improvement. For example, a case might highlight a real event in which an uninsured man is refused care and suffers a heart attack as a result of the lack of access to care. The case should support the establishment of why the issue is a real concern with practical implication. This section should be one to two paragraphs and include at least one source citation. 4. Propose a solution to improve the issue. This section should be one to two paragraphs in length and include at least one citation that supports a connection between the proposed solution and the issue. The solution should be stated, “A proposed solution to this issues is…” followed by a description of the solution in one or two sentences. The solution should then be described briefly to include how it would be implemented, cost implications and who would be responsible for its implementation. Include a description of how the solution would be measured for success and a statement of the expected result. Each of these solution section elements should only be a few sentences in length. 5. Describe key elements of what you have learned during the course and how that applies to the topic or issue of the Health Care Issue Project -Reflection Paper. Describe two or three areas of learning related to US health care delivery around which you feel you have increased your insight or changed your position and why. What part of your learning activity helped to cause the change? Use the issue in the reflection paper to describe how you may be able to apply your learning described in this section in the future. This section should be one to three paragraphs.
