Imagine that you are an elite figure from any of the ancient civilizations (Egypt, Mesopotamia) we have discussed. You have the means to commission a work of art. What will it be?
Write a page identifying your imagined self and context, and what your commission will be.
Tell me what society you belong to (Egypt, Mesopotamia) what gender you are, what your position is in society. Will the work you commission be a painting, a sculpture or architecture? What style will it be? Will it be public or private? Will it be sacred or secular?

Angles to consider:
Design, politics, religion, gender, sexuality, status, etc…what we always focus on. Think of it as your opportunity to demonstrate what you have learned about ancient culture, I must stress, this should be no more than one page of original writing. This is clearly open book, so there is no reason it should not be terrific.
