We’ve covered a wide range of topics in this course, including the basics of atoms and molecules, the mole and stoichiometric ratios, chemical reactions, gases, energy in chemical reactions, the relationships between electromagnetic radiation and energy, the shapes of molecules, and models of chemical bonding. Knowledge of these topics is applied by scientists to do some amazing things, and the goal of this discussion assignment is to find a secondary source that reports on recent research or technology with a connection to what we’ve learned in this class. Some suggested resources to start looking for secondary source material are: Scientific American, particularly in Chemistry and Medicine sections Chemical and Engineering News, Biological Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry topics Nature, news articles The Washington Post, Science and Health sections TED science talks Science Friday articles and podcasts Nova Science Now articles and videos Requirements: Choose an article, video, or podcast relating to recent research or technology from a reliable secondary source with some relevance to the material covered in this course. Make sure to include the title of your source and post a link to the source that you are writing about so your classmates can also view it. In 1-2 paragraphs, give a brief summary of the source material and why it interests you.
