Assignment should be submitted as Word documents. Maximum word limit is 1000. The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate that you have read the readings carefully, have thought about them, and are ready to present a specific observation, analysis, or conclusion about them. Papers should focus on one or two specific passages from one or two readings. Other readings can be referenced as needed, but keep your main focus narrow. Good papers will focus on answering the questions: what does it say? what does it mean? why does it matter (to how we understand this author)? Papers should have a single, clear, main point or “thesis.” Good theses are specific, arguable, and compelling. Papers should be neatly organized and proofread for grammar and style. Papers should follow the formatting guidelines posted under “Syllabus and Resources.”
