Define Diversity Management and briefly explain why it is so important for companies in today’s globalized environment.

An Elevator Speech is an introductory statement that you can use in a variety of settings (attending a career fair, waiting in line at a coffee shop, sitting next to somebody on an airplane, sharing an elevator with somebody at work, etc.).

For this assignment, develop your own Elevator Speech. Your Elevator Speech must be personalized with your unique information and include the following key areas which are explained in more detail below:

Who am I?

Example: “Hello, my name is… and I’m a student majoring in ___________at the University of North Texas.”

What is my objective?

Example: “I am interested in building on my experience and interest in environmental sustainability with an internship in an environmentally-friendly organization.”

What are my strengths?

Example: “My UNT education taught me to think critically, write well, and make connections across various disciplines. I use those skills in my involvement within the Sustainability Advisory Committee as we work to educate the campus community to the importance of living green.”

What is my passion (or what am I interested in)?

Example: “I want to make a difference by helping people understand how their actions affect our planet.

What action/response do I want from the other person?

What are your thoughts on the best way to connect with the key people within the leading environmentally-focused organizations in DFW?

Your article should use at least one interview and also some outside research.

While the focus is up to you, your article should have a purpose. It might make an argument, explain something that most people don’t understand, make a case that something overlooked is noteworthy, or push back against conventional wisdom.

This article should be written so that it’s suitable for a general audience.

Your article should also feel timely. Why would someone want to read your article now?

Objective: Effectively manage a team member to significantly shift her behavior to become much greater in her team effectiveness – to effectively collaborate with her five fellow team members and achieve team performance objectives.

Situation: You have a team of five reporting to you. You manage major projects for the business. Teamwork and collaboration among your team members is critical to success. Your team members all are very collaborative and work very well together, except for one team member who joined the team about 6 months ago. She is very capable and is a strong individual contributor, but has failed to work well with the team. Upon joining the team about six months ago you have continued to work with her to help her become a stronger team player and work in a partnering and collaborative manner with her fellow team members. She has stated that she wants to be more collaborative, but continues to work in an isolated and non-collaborative way with the team. You have provided guidance and coaching to her over recent weeks and she has made very limited progress. In order for your team to meet performance expectations she must greatly increase her teamwork and effectiveness. You have had serious conversations with her over the past 6 months, but now you are at a point where you must take stronger action to shift her behavior.

Note: This individual was referred to you by the Senior VP for Operations and you know he has a strong interest in her success.

Assignment: Consider this situation. Develop and present the specific steps you will take to help her improve her team effectiveness. Prepare your paper outlining and explaining your approach. I chose to look at was H.R.866- 116th Congress (2019-2020).

You will discuss how this bill proceeded from being introduced in the House or Senate up to final passage by both branches.

As you research the background of this policy area, think about the problems that have occurred that requires Congress to take action on this problem.

Who introduced and (co)sponsored the bill, and speculate on why he/she identified this as a problem area needing a solution?

Which committee(s) in the House and Senate held hearings and reported it?

What were the roles of outside interests interest groups (google which groups supported/opposed the bill)?

What kind of media coverage did your bill receive (google media coverage of your bill)?

What kind of leadership do we need to enable humanity to move to a more sustainable future?

One of the most important challenges for the world is to move to clearer production, consumption and energy generation.

Write an essay in response to the questions below. The essay should be from 700-1000 words in length.

Look closely at the evidence for and against each hypothesis, and then write a 3-4 paragraph essay describing which hypothesis you think is most likely to be true based on the evidence.
