Continuing as the legal aide, you are now asked to prepare a summary and review of the process the organization has for determining competency at the time the employee in the scenario was hired and in an ongoing manner, which is typically an annual evaluation.

As this case is hypothetical, you will use a current or former organization where you were employed as the basis for the organization of the subject’s employment. If you do not have current or former experience in an emergency medical services (EMS) organization, you may research and contact an EMS agency of your choosing to help answer the questions.

You should identify specifically those components that speak to the issues in the scenario you selected. Your paper should include a summary of the following:

The specific components of the application and hiring process used to determine whether the employee met the minimum performance standards that play a role in the case.
Summarize the steps taken by the organization to ensure ongoing competency in the areas of performance questioned in the scenario.
Identify any state or local laws and regulations with which your agency is required to comply that relate to the ongoing competency of personnel in the affected area.
What evaluation instruments does the organization use to measure competence in the affected area?
If a deficiency is identified at any point in the employment of the individual, what types of remediation efforts would be made to bring the employee into compliance?

As you have read, a distance learning module using a learning management system (LMS) can offer some real advantages in adding flexibility to even a traditional training program, such as the one you are developing for your project assignments. For this assignment, develop one module (or unit) that could be uploaded into an LMS such as Blackboard to supplement your traditional training program. In a 3–4-page paper, complete the following:

• Describe how you will use your distance learning unit and how that use will complement your traditional training program.
• Explain how you will present material to the trainees.
  • Provide a sample of your material. You may present your sample materials using Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. Any of these would represent files that could be uploaded into an LMS. You will not actually upload the materials but, rather, provide a mock-up of them.
• Describe how you will have the trainees practice what you presented to them.
• Describe how the trainees will get feedback on what they practiced.

At this university, you have likely formed your own opinions regarding the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning. How do you feel about distance learning using an LMS (or CMS) such as Blackboard? What are the three biggest advantages and the three biggest disadvantages to learning via distance learning methods? Identify one organization that actually uses Distance Learning in its training/development program using the Wall Street Journal source provided by this university.

You have been asked by management to secure the laptop computer of an individual who was just dismissed from the company under unfavorable circumstances. Describe how you would start this incident off correctly by properly protecting and securing the evidence on the laptop.

Develop a comprehensive leadership plan that you believe, based on your research, will increase gender consciousness and awareness in your organization. In your plan, address the following:

• Assess any existing advancement barriers, and then explain how you plan to overcome them.
• Describe current and proposed retention plans.
• Identify current policies and opportunities that may be outdated or ineffective, and provide your proposed plans for their revision and implementation.
• Propose new initiatives, and then explain how you would implement them.
