In this assigment you will need to answer the following 7 questions. The first Four can be bullet points detailed response, the other two, long responses.

Please compose a brief detailed response to BOTH with a clearly articulated thesis that answers the question and evidence to back up your thesis. A good essay will demonstrate that you understand the terms you are using. The answer must be written in the form of an essay; that is, you must answer in full sentences and paragraphs, not in bullet or outline form. It will be at approximately 2 pages long, although essays will obviously vary in length depending on how concise you are, the size of your writing etc. A longer essay in no way guarantees a better grade but a short answer lacking detail will not earn full credit.

1.) Consider some of the propaganda that we have looked at over the last few weeks. How does propaganda factor into either the Reformation or the French Revolution? Propaganda can include written material, art, music, or other expressions, but you should definitely consider the effect of the printing press in your response. You should also consider both literate and illiterate audiences. Would the event have happened without propaganda (esp. printed propaganda)? Would it have played out differently? Be sure to include some examples of propaganda that we examined in class.

Problem Statement/Purpose of the Study
• Include the problem statement indicating what is known and not known and provide the basis for the purpose of the review (this is the rationale for the review).
o As a part of the Introduction, effective problem statements answer the question “Why does this research need to be conducted?” The clear statement of the problem is the focal point of your research. It should state what you will be studying, whether you will do it through experimental or non-experimental investigation, and what the purpose of your findings will be. In it, you are looking for something wrong, something that needs close attention, or something where existing methods no longer seem to be working.
o In your wording, be succinct and on target. Give a short summary of the research problem that you have identified. A research proposal may not be considered acceptable or credible if you fail to clearly identify the problem. Your biggest difficulty might be narrowing the topic since the topic is still relatively unfamiliar to you. Your Literature Review should be a helpful source.
• While the problem statement itself is just one sentence, it is always accompanied in the larger Introduction by several paragraphs that help to elaborate and that may include other elements of the research proposal. You might present persuasive arguments as to why the problem is important enough to study or include the opinions of others (nurses, physicians, public health advocates, other professionals). Explain how the problem relates to health, disease, or nursing by presenting a bit of evidence from your literature search that demonstrates the scope and depth of the problem. Try to give dramatic and concrete illustrations of the problem. After writing the Introduction, however, make sure you can still easily identify the single sentence that is the problem statement.

Some have considered the Civil War a Second American Revolution. Examine the validity of that statement.

Is it really a second Revolution or is it merely a continuation of the first Revolution? Are the issues similar or different? How?

What issues were left open from the American Revolution? Did new issues arise after 1789 and the signing of the Constitution?

How did and/or did not the events/people during the years from 1848 to 1880 help resolve those issues? Did Reconstruction resolve any of those remaining issues? How?

Many futurologists claim that the telecommunication revolution spawned by computer technology will erase national borders and create a peaceful “global village.” Other people are skeptical. Write an essay in which you examine whether or not the internet effectively challenges state sovereignty. Explain your answer and give clear examples.
