A field trip is an excellent way to apply learning objectives within the community. These experiences allow students to see how their classroom learning applies to the world around them. While a field trip can be beneficial to student learning, it does require thoughtful consideration.

For this assignment, you will plan a field trip that would allow students to apply content knowledge outside the classroom.

Your plan must include:

General Planning:

• Location of field trip. Cost per student/adult.
• Number of students/adults that would go on the field trip.
• Transportation options.
• Special offers from the field trip location.
• Lunch options.
• Description of services available for students with disabilities.
• Guidelines for chaperones.

Academic Planning:

• At least three learning objectives that will be met on the field trip.
• Activities in which the students will participate and how the activities support the learning objectives.
• Reflection/write up that the students would have to complete after the field trip.
• Permission letter for parents to sign.

Write a reflection on your process for planning a field trip. How difficult was it to find a field trip that supported your chosen learning objectives? Explain how the field trip was a way you promoted positive outcomes for young children. Describe how you will use this process in your future professional practice.

Each year the hospital where you work, Stronger Memorial hosts a Wellness Fair for its employees. The Fair is well attended; people are encouraged to use their breaks and lunch time to tour the booths and learn about issues of personal and professional importance. This year, you are on the Wellness Fair organizing committee and will be working with colleagues from around the hospital to develop educational materials for various booths. To get started on these materials, it is important to first have a solid understanding of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology of body systems.

The final item you will be creating for the Wellness Fair is a collection of three informational “Fact Sheets” that educate hospital employees about common diseases. After the Wellness Fair, these fact sheets will serve as quick-reference educational materials for patients. Choose three diseases from the “Essential Elements of a Disease Fact Sheet” document in the Resources section. After learning about each disease, create a two-page disease fact sheet that, in your own words, provides a comprehensive overview of the disease, causes and progression, and treatment options. Consult the document “Essential Elements of a Disease Fact Sheet” for more information.

See the diabetes fact sheet from the CDC for an example of how to effectively use a mix of text and visuals. You need to carefully determine which material should be included while creating clear and concise page fact sheets.

On the decision-making model, examine the scenario provided and apply the model coming to a conclusion. Gather information beyond that presented in the scenario. What conclusion can be reached by applying the model?
