Computers Making Decisions

Imagine that you are a shirt sales person and you just heard from your boss that a computer program is going to start telling you how many red, green and yellow (or whatever colors) shirts you are supposed to sell each week.
What are your thoughts?
Now that you know how computers are used to make decisions, how do you think a program could make these decisions for you

Explain the impact of each model on implementing change and resistance to change.

Al-Haddad & Kotnour (2015) describes the change models of Kotter and Lewin. In an essay, compare and contrast these change models or any other early research that focuses on individual behaviors and resistance to change.
1. Explain each step of the change model.
2. Compare and contrast each model of change.
3. Explain the impact of each model on implementing change and resistance to change.

Discuss the costs (both explicit and implicit) of attending college.

Discuss the costs (both explicit and implicit) of attending college. How do the opportunity costs of college change whether one can “afford” to go to college?
Is it possible that someone may still make a rational decision to attend college even though it is not the most financially beneficial?

Explain your Autogenic Training Experience: describe how you felt during the training, the environment, and any thoughts that occurred while completing this training.

Upon completion of the training, please assess your experience via Lab 11.1. Compose a paper, sharing your experience and self-assessment. Your paper should be written in paragraph format and address the following:
• Explain your Autogenic Training Experience: describe how you felt during the training, the environment, and any thoughts that occurred while completing this training.
• Assess your lab responses.
• Evaluate any challenges you faced while completing this exercise.

Respond to a colleague’s post by suggesting two alternative methods for measuring their phenomenon. Explain why your suggestions have value.

Respond to a colleague’s post by suggesting one alternative advantage or disadvantage of their chosen existing instrument of measurement. Explain why your suggestions have value. Please use the resources to support your answer.

What are the human resource responsibilities of a board of directors?

Part A

Chapter 17

Develop a procedure for identifying people for inclusion in an anticipated layoff. This must use some process other than straight institutional seniority. Next, defend this model and explain why you believe it to be legal and non-discriminatory. Finally, describe how you believe your model serves the organization while being as fair as possible to the affected employees.

Part B

Chapter 18

Human resources (HR) personnel make decisions daily that affect the lives of many individuals. They typically follow established policies and procedures of an organization. Human resources personnel infrequently consider the ethical and moral dimensions of their decisions. The activities described in chapter 18 concentrate on the ethical and moral components of a situation involving HR aspects of an organization.
Read the Case Study: Balancing Needs found in chapter 18. Develop a critique of the behavior of certain members of the board of directors who were involved in the case study described in the chapter. Identify and describe the principal error in board behavior that encompassed the majority of events that went wrong. In doing so, consider the following:
1. What are the human resource responsibilities of a board of directors?
2. What conflicts of interest had to be resolved?
3. What was the potential conflict of confidentiality? Why was it a problem?
4. Why was the Ethic of Critique important in this situation?
5. Why was the Ethic of Justice important in this situation?
6. Why was the Ethic of Caring important in this situation?
7. Why was the Principle of Equal Respect important in this situation?
8. Why was the Principle of Benefit Maximization important in this situation?
9. Was ignoring the problem an option? Why?
10. What was the first HR error to be made?
11. When did the situation become unable to be resolved? Why?
Part C

Chapter 21

Arbitration is appropriate when two parties know they will be unable to resolve a dispute by negotiation or mediation. Explain the circumstances under which both parties are likely to agree to arbitration, and describe what is likely to occur if one party adamantly holds out for a court proceeding while the other is adamantly opposed to such an outcome.

Write a report explaining the strengths and limitations in using pipe and filter commands.

Application: Command-Line Interface (CLI) Styles
Prior to graphical user interfaces (GUIs), system administrators and operating system users had to use a command-line interface (CLI) to execute system commands. In most of our modern operating systems, the systems administrator still has the ability to use the CLIs to configure system resources, enhance security, and increase system performance. Within these CLIs, there are methods available to output data in different formats, sort data, and search for specific data stored in memory. These CLI methods include the use of pipe and filtering commands to execute system commands to do the following: configure system resources, enhance security, and increase system performance. As a computing professional, you will be better off by understanding the benefits and limitations of CLI styles beforehand, if and when you want to use them.

For this Assignment, read “Command-Line Reference A-Z” and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.1: Command Line Shell Guide from this week’s Learning Resources. Then research the Walden Library and the Internet for the history and other details about the pipe and filter style of commands.

Write a report explaining the strengths and limitations in using pipe and filter commands. Provide a brief history of pipe and filtering style commands. Also, provide a comparison between the benefits of using pipe and filter commands with the commands available through a GUI.

Explain the artistic movement associated with the work of art.

Choose any painting, and address the following:

Explain the artistic movement associated with the work of art.
Describe the style of the artist (How is the artist unique within the movement?)
Examine in some depth the influences that shaped the work. Address at least 2 of the following:
-Stylistic influences
-Subject/content influences
-Cross-disciplinary influences such as literature, philosophy, music, science, technology, etc.
-Historical influences
-Political influences

Reflect on your learning.
How did your research enhance your appreciation of the artwork?
How does understanding the context of a work help in interpreting it?
