Through research, find a single example of a beneficial or detrimental mutation and how it has contributed to the species evolution. Identify and describe the example of mutation that has been detrimental or beneficial. The species can be any species- humans or otherwise.

Discuss the interconnection between photosynthesis and cellular respiration.

In this module you have been introduced to the major concepts and terms relating to cellular respiration and photosynthesis. Completing this activity will assist you in mastering Module Outcomes 1-6: MO1: Summarize cell respiration. (CO2) MO2: Correlate the anatomy and function of mitochondria. (CO2) MO3: List and explain the three steps of cell respiration. (CO2) MO4: Describe an overview of photosynthesis. (CO2) MO5: Discuss the structure and function of chloroplasts. (CO2) MO6: Explain light reactions and the Calvin Cycle. (CO2) After reading the Module Notes and the textbook chapters and completing both M3D1 and M3A1, demonstrate your knowledge by answering the questions below. Each prompt or question should be answered in full sentences and should be 100-200 words. You may use your textbook, Mastering Biology, or other outside sources as references, but you must provide references using proper (Links to an external site.) style formatting. For assistance with APA style formatting, visit the Library (Links to an external site.) or the Excelsior OWL (Links to an external site.). Cite your references at the end of each answer. Number each response for every question in your essay. 1. Discuss four differences between photosynthesis and cellular respiration: First summarize each process, Next discuss four ways the processes differ. 2. Discuss the interconnection between photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Include the terms energy, process, ATP, oxygen, carbon dioxide, cells (cellular), producers, glucose, and consumers in your response. 3. Explain why we die in seconds without oxygen. Your response should include the terms ATP, electrons, acceptor, and energy. 4. Read this brief article on Dinosaur Extinction (Links to an external site.). How do hypotheses on the extinction of the dinosaurs relate to photosynthesis? Include the terms wavelength, producers, heterotrophs and photosynthesis in your response. 5. Describe the anatomy of chloroplasts and mitochondria. Explain the activity associated with each structure. Check your work and correct any spelling or grammatical errors. Describe a meaningful intellectual experience you have had.

Describe a meaningful intellectual experience you have had. This could be a dynamic class you took, exposure to a particular theory that resonated with you, or a learning relationship you developed with someone outside an academic context. Consider circumstances under which you have developed a talent or skill that has transformed the way you approach problems.

Write a brief character sketch of Ch’un-hyang from The Song of Ch’un-hyang that uses the terms and qualities discussed in this module to describe her.

Compare and contrast the key differences between the activities of paralegals versus those of attorneys in preparing a case for trial.

It is widely known that utilizing paralegals is a frequent concern for practicing attorneys, especially when a paralegal’s actions may leave them performing tasks (e.g., advising on legal rights, negotiation or settlement, management of a law practice, etc.) which could result in the unauthorized practice of law.  Per the American Bar Association, one must possess a law license in order to perform such tasks.

Write a five to six (5-6) page paper in which you:

  1. Determine three (3) most important characteristics of an effective paralegal. Justify your response.
  2. Develop at least three (3) general guidelines for conducting legal research that a new paralegal should follow on in order to ensure that the attorney for whom the paralegal works is referencing valid laws within his / her legal documents.
  3. Propose two (2) strategies that a paralegal could take in order to avoid the unauthorized practice of law. Provide a rationale to support your response.
  4. Compare and contrast the key differences between the activities of paralegals versus those of attorneys in preparing a case for trial.

Describe why an organization of your choice (research), needs a strategic reward system for employees that addresses these four areas: compensation, benefits, recognition and appreciation.

Companies need to address all four areas: compensation, benefits, recognition and appreciation to have a well-designed strategic reward system.  It is important that is well-balanced and aligned with the company’s mission and vision.

The need for a well-balanced reward system also applies at Haney and Young, LLP, a small litigation law firm with less than 15 workers.  Their core value is responsiveness to clients.  Being a small firm, it might not be able to compete with bigger law firms, but they should be able recognize the need for a competitive compensation package with both tangible goods, as well as praise, bearing in mind that they should be able to sustain funding.  A reward system should be put in place to recognize outstanding performance to motivate employees.  According to Martocchio (2018), merit programs should be accurate, well  implemented, and ensures all employees have equal access to all that the company offers.  He continues that core compensation and discretionary benefits contribute to a company’s competitive advantage like distinguishing itself from competition.

As people don’t work primarily for money especially in these days, it is important that recognition of good performance should be encouraged with supervisors and managers for employees to feel appreciated.  When an employee, comparing their salaries and other measurable benefits (e.g. bonuses) it with others in the same position and in different functions, feel that they are being treated then there is a tendency to decrease their efforts whether it is in productivity, participation, and even their presence.  Srivastava(2017) posits that acknowledgement of the relative value of one employee over another is essential and siince rewards have a real cost in terms of time or money, small business owners need to confirm that performance has actually improved before rewarding it .
