Think about your early literacy experiences.
What do you remember? If possible, interview those who might help you with your recollections.
hat do you remember about your storybook reading experiences? Writing experiences? Reading experiences?
Did you have favorite books that you asked to be read to you over and over?
Are there stories of your literacy experiences in your family’s folklore (e.g., the time your wrote on your bedroom wall, how at age 2 you “read” Brown Bear, Brown Bear to everyone, how you at age 8 decided to write an encyclopedia of animals)?
Are your memories of your literacy experiences positive, neutral, or negative?
Were there any areas where you can recall needing additional support or assistance and how was that provided?
How might your experiences inform your work with your students?
When you have gathered and recollected this information, write an informative paper detailing your literacy history through elementary school.
