Analyze why a company would want to make its product sustainable?

1. Select a major global industry, such as health care, food,  transportation and electronic products. Analyze why a company would want  to make its product sustainable? Does this increase or decrease  consumer need? How does this impact costs/economic considerations? Are  there any ethical considerations to be considered in a green marketing  campaign for the product?

2. A small local garden company which supplies both consumer and  landscaping materials is considering implementing sustainable practices  related to the products, chemicals and machinery use. What are some  advantages and disadvantages for a consumer/economic view regarding this  type of company, when implementing a sustainable business plan? Do the  economic costs outweigh the potential consumer attraction? Consider  financial, ethical, social, legal, and practical aspects of business. Could indirect green marketing be used?  Provide specific examples to  support your answers.

What are the risk factors for colon cancer (i.e. role of fat, fiber, alcohol, antioxidants, genetics)? Explain the connection for each using your patho.

A 53-year-old man presents to his primary care provider for an annual check-up. During the course of the exam, a prostate exam and guiac test is performed. The guiac is positive. There are no signs or symptoms of rectal bleeding (including hemorrhoids), but he remembers having a tarry black stool a couple of times earlier in the month. He does have a family history of colon cancer, and he had a negative baseline/screening sigmoidoscopy at age 50. Basic blood work: CBC is unremarkable except a mild normochromic, normocytic anemia and a sed rate of 90, chemistry profile is normal. CT of the abdomen reveals unusual thickening in the cecum. He is referred to gastroenterology for a colonoscopy, which reveals a 3cm tumor in the cecum and the bowel wall appears intact. The tumor was removed, but after further work-up, 2 regional nodes are positive for cancer. No metastses were noted by PET scan.

His wife ask: a. What are the risk factors for colon cancer (i.e. role of fat, fiber, alcohol, antioxidants, genetics)? Explain the connection for each using your patho.

b. Based on this information, what are simple things they can do to minimize risk?

Discuss at least two (2) factors that you believe influence inter-industry wage/salary differentials. Support your rationale.

  • Some industries appear to pay higher wages than others, even when measurable labor quality or the type of work they do seems similar. Use the Internet or the Strayer Library database to research one (1) company in a high and another in a low paying industry. Next, examine the key differences in the inter-industry wage differentials (e.g., IT vs. Retail industry). You will then need to summarize your findings within your discussion post.
