As we complete our first week I’d like you to take some time and think about Welker’s title for our last chapter this week – What is a hominin? In the final chapter Welker focuses a lot on anatomy, which is important and should be included in your paper. However, I want you to think about hominins holistically – their behaviors, the impact the environment had on them and that they had on the environment (?). Take some time to think about the disciplines that have worked on this question – What is a hominin? How have their technologies and discipline specific methods impacted our knowledge of hominins?
