1. Write an original play. Include all the components of the play that we’ve studied this semester: Thought, Theme, Ideas; Action or Plot; Characters; Language; Music; and Spectacle. 2. Write a sequel to a play that we discussed in class. 3. Write an analysis of a play that was written after 2017. Check out the Pulitzer Prize winners for drama. Analyze how the play’s various components contribute to the play’s theme. 4. Write a paper that presents the critical reception of a play. To what do the critics agree? Disagree? How does reading criticism enrich or distract from interpretation and/or enjoyment of reading plays? 5. Score a play. Think about what music reflects the play’s elements. You can choose one scene to score or multiple scenes. Justify the music choice(s) by including a detailed analysis. 6. Write a paper that explores the various contexts that influenced the play.
