If you were to use this language when working with families of students with disabilities, you would likely cause a lot of controversies.Has autism affected people for centuries? When was it first diagnosed?Remember the saying, “When you have met one person with autism, you have met one person with autism.” You do not want to generalize too much.Education research changes quickly. You really want to limit your sources to the past five years. Anything older than 10 years should not be used unless it is the only possible solution. Remember to provide sources for all of your claims. Where did you get the definition of autism?Are people with autism excluded from “liv[ing] freely with other people”? That sounds illegal.
