This is supposed to be a project in the form of an essay that analyzes an actual urban space (e.g. a three-four city block area) to better understand how a particular urban society operates. Focus of this assignment should be a downtown area with a variety of services and facilities. Firstly, the paper includes urban characteristics, such as what kinds of buildings predominate (residential, commercial, etc.) and their general purpose, how the area is laid out geographically (streets, parks, etc.), and the social uses to which those spaces are put. Secondly, it involves the writers observations and explanations why that area is the way it is.
