Analyze the findings of the Perry study, addressing the strengths and shortcomings of the neurodevelopmental approach.

Chapter 5 of the course textbook discusses the brain development of the child in early life as well as the impact of accidents and maltreatment. The required article by Perry (2009) illustrates and defends an approach to child maltreatment based on neurodevelopmental analysis that seeks to understand and treat abuse victims with reference to the areas of the brain affected.

Based on these readings, account for or respond to each of the following in your initial post:

  • Analyze the findings of the Perry study, addressing the strengths and shortcomings of the neurodevelopmental approach. Are there limits to this sort of approach, and if so, what alternative approach might add something to a neurobiological analysis?
  • Offer a real life experience, alternative study, or recent news report that in some way illustrates or casts light upon Perry’s findings.
  • Week 3 Journal

Chapters 7 and 9 of the course textbook discuss theories of learning and information processing as well as various methods of assessing intelligence and testing achievement.

Based on the required textbook readings and references, address or respond to each of the following:

  • Briefly summarize the key components of the IDEA, NCLB, and ESSA legislation regarding learning disabilities, including the types of disabilities meant to be covered under these laws.
  • Reflect on whether and/or how these laws are informed or supported by theories of cognitive development, learning, and intelligence discussed in the course textbook.

What does the scholarly literature say about the current status and or the main facts and perspectives on the topic area?

The Lit review contains relevant theories, laws and regulations, key issues, important variables, and empirical studies and their results. Should provide support for the problem statement. Use to justify and support the proposed research topic and design by summarizing and synthesizing the arguments and ideas of others. The following must be covered in the literature review.

1. What does the scholarly literature say about the current status and or the main facts and perspectives on the topic area?

2. Which specific aspects of the problems/issues is (are) addressed in the project?

3. What are the key issues raised in the topic literature?

4. What research studies have been carried out on this topic area and what have those studies found? What conclusions do draw from these studies?

Neighborhood Segregation in NYC

1. What policies/practices contributed to segregated neighborhoods in the city

2. Was there any formal effort to integrated neighborhoods?

3. In what ways do segregation in housing in connected to segregated schools?

4. What role busing played in integrating schools in the past?

Explain how the process you have chosen meets the definition of biotechnology.

Biotechnology is the use of a living thing or any part of a living thing to make a product or process that improves human life.

Choose 1 of the following biotechnology applications:

  • in vitro fertilization
  • DNA profiling
  • Vaccines
  • Genetically modified organisms (GMOs)
  • Gene therapy
    1. Explain how the process you have chosen meets the definition of biotechnology.
    2. Describe how the process is performed.
    3. Explain the uses of the application.
    4. Discuss at least 1 benefit, 1 drawback, and 1 risk of the process you have chosen.
    5. Elaborate on an ethical concern of the application you have chosen, for example, if you chose in vitro fertilization you might discuss what to do with leftover embryos.

Use the following guidelines for your report:

Briefly discuss your findings statistically and substantively for a general audience.

The following questions (7 & 8) refer to the Uzonyi article and data.

7. The troops variable indicates the number of troops a third party committed to a peacekeeping mission. The polity2 variable indicates the third party’s regime type, where values between -10 and -7 represent autocracies, -6 and 6 represent anocracies (mixed regimes), and 7 and 10 represent democracies. For all parts of this question, use only data from the year 2000.

a) Create a new variable named regime that takes on a value of 0 for autocracies, 1 for anocracies, and 2 for democracies. Report the average troop commitments for each of these groups. Also provide a table with that information.

b) Estimate an Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) F test using troops committed as the dependent variable and the regime type as the independent variable. Provide the F statistic and the p-value.

c) Briefly discuss your findings statistically and substantively for a general audience.

8. Bivariate Linear Regression. The troops variable indicates the number of troops a third party committed to the peacekeeping mission. The refinflow variable indicates the number of refugees entering that particular third party from the conflict. Use all data.

a) Report the first, second, and third quartiles (the 25th, 50th, and 75th percentile), as well as the mean and standard deviation, for both variables.

b) Report the covariance and correlation between these variables. Interpret the latter.

c) Estimate a bivariate linear regression model using refugee inflows to predict troop commitments as the dependent variable. Provide a regression table showing the estimated coefficients and standard errors for ???? and ???? parameters, as well as indicating the p-value.

d) Write down the equation for the model predicted.

e) Calculate the substantive impact of refugees on the number of additional troops the model predicts will be committed with:

i. an increase of 10,000 in refugee inflows

ii. an increase from the first quartile to the third quartile of refugee inflows

iii. an increase of one standard deviation in refugee inflows

f) Create a graph showing a scatterplot of these data (with troops on the vertical axis and refugee inflows on the horizontal axis) overlaid with the line of best fit estimated by this model.

g) Briefly discuss your findings statistically and substantively for a general audience.

h) In a few sentences, consider the utility of estimating the same model on only those country-year observations that did experience an inflow of refugees.

i) Now do so. Provide a regression table showing the estimated coefficients and standard errors for ???? and ???? parameters, as well as indicating the p-value.

What is your interpretation of the assessment results?(Note: Your interpretation should be discussed as a separateheading under your summary of what the assessments mean together.)

COU 630 Assessment Report Draft Two Guidelines and RubricIn your first draft of the Assessment Report, you address the introduction, assessment review, and assessment administration. You will now build on that draft with your assessmentscoring, assessment results interpretation, recommendations, and conclusion. You are using the same results you received fromyour partner for your first draft as you complete this second draft. As part of your Assessment Results Interpretation, you will again explore validity and reliability. When considering validity and reliability of the instruments, together, often what you are looking for is how well the instruments predict suitability for a career. Typically the results will match up the individuals’ interests and personality with a potential career path. Refer to the COU 630 Final Project I Outline (located in the Assignment Guideline and Rubric section within Start Here)to help structure your project. Prompt: For this assignment, you willsubmit the assessment scoring, assessment results interpretation, recommendations, and conclusion sections of your career assessment report for instructor feedback. Specifically, the following critical elementsmust be addressed:

IV.Assessment Scoring

A.Discuss how the assessments are scored.

V.Assessment Results Interpretation

A.State the results of each assessment.

B.Summarize what each assessment means. Discuss the personality and career assessments in separate paragraphs.

C.Summarize what the assessmentsmean together.

i.What is your interpretation of the assessment results?(Note: Your interpretation should be discussed as a separateheading under your summary of what the assessments mean together.)

D.Summarize what the results mean in terms of the client’s future career.

i.Make sure to provide rationalee. Your rationale should include how the meaning of the results align with the client’s future career.

E.Address the validity and reliabilityof the results.

i.Note: You discussed concerns around validity and reliability of the tools in the assessment review of your first draft. Now, discuss the validity and reliability of the tools’ ability to predict future career options based on the assessment results and research on the tool.

VI.Recommendations

A.Discuss how the results impact their educational level.

i.Does the client need more education to seek a new career?

ii.What do the results implicate with respect to their education?

B.Identify any specific education resourcesyou would recommend. Why?

C.Identify any occupational resourcesyou may provide the client with.

i.What occupational resources would you recommend to help? Why?

D.Discuss what you suggest the client’s career directionshould be moving forward.

E.Support the client’s recommended career direction using data.

i.How is the data informing the labor market and the career path you are suggesting?

VII.Conclusion

A.Summarize your overall career recommendations.

i.What are your overall recommendations and predictions and prognosis?
