What does this suggest about the advertisers’ perceptions of that audience’s needs, wants, and desires?

Discussion 2: Advertising and Rhetorical Theory No unread replies. No replies. Attach or post a link to an advertisement and offer a concise explanation of the target audience by engaging in a short rhetorical critique of the ad. What can you infer about the target audience of this ad from its rhetorical appeals? What does this suggest about the advertisers’ perceptions of that audience’s needs, wants, and desires? How did you arrive at those conclusions? Make specific references to the week’s readings (including in-text citations and bibliographic entries) and substantiate all of your claims with clear textual evidence from the ad. To help you get started, you can use Tag’s facilitated critique of Dewar’s Scotch from the reading as a model for your initial post. In your responses to your classmates, you might offer an alternate critique that reveals a different message–and thus a different audience–in the advertisements they respectively posted, or you might critique the interpretation they applied. Review the grading rubric for this discussion before you post. In addition to responding clearly, fully, and creatively to the prompt, to receive full credit, you must: Submit your initial post no later than 11:59 pm on Wednesday; 2) Post on four different days. This includes the day of your initial post plus responses on at least three other days; 3) Respond to four (or more) classmates’ posts with substantive and insightful comments (i.e., not simple agreement with or rephrasing of their initial post).
