Essentially it is a 5-page research paper into 3 career options that revolve around accounting but do not specifically have to be accountant positions.
Conduct a formal analysis of an artwork using the four aspects of critical analysis described in chapter four of your textbook. Choose one of the three images below and write a formal analysis of the art work in four paragraphs. Follow these guidelines:Begin by describing the work in detail, addressing the questions posed in section “4.3.1 Description” of your textbook. Use the information covered in module 2 on the elements of art and design. Describe only. Avoid conclusions.Next analyze how the elements are put to use in the artwork. How are they arranged or composed? Refer to section “4.3.2 Analysis” in your textbook reading. Also review the design principles covered in module 3.Interpret the work. This should be your own interpretation not something you find on the internet. This is you the viewer interacting with the work, your subjective reading.Finally, give an evaluation of the work, make a judgement. Be sure to give specific and well thought out reasons for your evaluation. It is not enough to state that you like it, or that you think it is good or bad.
Review Section 6.5 of the course text on Inferences to the Best Explanation. Choose a topic that is difficult or controversial to explain. Some good topics include hoaxes, unusual sightings (e.g. UFOs, bigfoot, etc.), the supernatural or paranormal (ghosts, levitation, etc.), conspiracy theories, unsolved crimes, court cases, etc.
Reflect: Do a little research to find a specific topic and learn about explanations on both sides. Consider what you think might best explain the observed facts of the case.
Write: Explain the topic you chose and why it is interesting or controversial. Present good arguments on more than one side of the issue (e.g. competing explanations of the facts). Analyze both arguments that you have presented. Then present your own argument for your theory that you feel will best explain this phenomenon. Are there any holes in your theory? Is there any information that would be likely to strengthen or weaken your case?

The occasion of the poem is the night of the winter solstice, which is always near the end of the calendar year.
One year’s end and another one’s start is an important marker of time for many of us. Our language marks time, too. In sentences, verbs mark the passing of time–that is why they’re called “past,” “present,” and “future” tense.
A “progressive” form of a past, present, or future tense verb helps to communicate notions of our actions in time. A progressive verb shows an ongoing action that is happening at some point: past, present, or future.
Some examples to explain it:
“I was typing” – “was typing” is past progressive because it happened some time before now “I am typing” – “am typing” is present progressive because it”s happening right now “I will be typing” – “will be typing” is future progressive because it describes something that will be ongoing action later.
Pick out some of the verbs (action words) that end in -ing in Richardson”s poem. List them, then tell us what observations you can make about what they have in common or the story they tell when you see them in a row. What tone or “feeling” do you get from your list?
Finally, in “Blessing for the Longest Night,” how does Richardson use progressive verbs to establish the poem’s tone?
Trace developments in a technological field of your choice. Show how these innovations built on each other, citing some of the inventors whose contributions won them deserved or undeserved fame and fortune or, alternately, went unrewarded. Consider not just the technical progress in the field you choose, but also the social implications such innovations have wrought. Here are some suggestions of fields you might examine:You could concentrate on agricultural innovations, including the invention and refinement of the plow, the spread of crops and domesticated animals from the Fertile Crescent, three-field farming and the enclosure movement, the “Columbian Exchange” of plants and animals between the hemispheres, chemical fertilizers, and the development of technologies to process, preserve, and distribute food and fiber. Don’t ignore the plight of and prospects for those who have tilled the soil, butchered the meat, and planted and picked crops ranging from cotton to the fruits and vegetables we consume today.If you focus on transportation, you could describe 19th century turnpike construction, canal digging, steamboat and ship building, ballooning, bicycling, and/or railroad track laying, with 20th and 21st century innovations in internal combustion and electric automobiles, aviation, and rocketry.You could choose to explore energy production, starting with human or animal power; the discovery of fire; the water mill; steam generation using charcoal, coal, coke, or petroleum; the electric motor and hydroelectric turbines; chemical batteries; nuclear energy; and renewables such as wind and solar power.Communications breakthroughs, from the telegraph, telephone, wireless telegraphy, the phonograph and motion picture, radio and television, to the smart phones most of you could not live without, could be a tempting topic.Artificial lighting, from oil lamps in caves, to limelight, arc lighting, whale oil or kerosene lamps, and incandescent bulbs, CFLs, and LEDs, could be another area to explore, with alternate ways of producing or distributing electrical power possibly considered as well.Another worthy focus would be industrial efficiency, including the use of water and steam power in factories or mines, standardized parts, stationary or moving assembly lines, time and motion studies, and robotics. Don’t fail to consider the effects on workers, including their efforts to organize unions, these developments caused.Production of textile goods could be a focus, including hand spinning and weaving in cottage industries; the innovations of Kay, Arkwright, and Slater; the New Lanark and Lowell experiment; and outsourcing of textile jobs to third world countries. Working conditions, citing Luddite protests, unionization efforts, and muckraking accounts of factory conditions, would be an appropriate consideration.Advances in weaponry, from gunpowder, the long- and crossbow, the harquebus, musket and rifle, handgun, cannon, machine gun, and even Tesla’s proposed “death ray”, armored ships and tanks, submarines, warplanes and aircraft carriers, to the ultimate destructive power of atomic devices, could be considered.The importance of keeping time, from monks’ water clocks, which told them (roughly) when to pray, to the atomic clocks that measure millionths of seconds, could be described. Intermediate steps – pendulum and mainspring clocks, pocket and quartz watches, and the creation of time zones and DST – might be examined.The digital revolution, beginning with mechanical devices and progressing through binary calculators and miniaturization on an atomic or quantum scale, is an obvious and highly relevant topic you could explore. The implications of Facebook, YouTube, and other social media in keeping informed and/or inundating us with distractions and “fake news” might also be a focus.
