In a detailed four-page essay, explore the types of conflict in two of the stories that we’ve read so far: “The Story of an Hour” “The Cask of Amontillado” “A Rose for Emily” “A&P” Of person vs. person, person vs. society and person vs. self, what do you see as the primary type of conflict in each story? Are there additional types of conflict? If so, explore them as well. For each story, identify the protagonist and what s/he wants, then the antagonist(s) that are preventing the protagonist from getting what s/he wants. Begin with a clear, specific thesis (that mentions both stories and authors), and use specific examples and quotes from the stories themselves to support your points. Make sure that the essay analyzes (vs. summarizes) the stories. You may assume that your reader has read both stories. 4 pages typed, double-spaced.
