Assuming that the United States has a comparative advantage, a lower opportunity cost, and the absolute advantage, it would make more sense for the United States to specialize in television production. For example, if the labor time needed to produce a television set doesn’t take away from the production of another product than the opportunity cost is low enough to where the United States has a comparative advantage; which is the ability to produce a good at a lower opportunity cost than another producer (Mankiw, 2018). According to this scenario, both countries are using the same amount of time to produce televisions, however, the United States is producing two more sets in an hour which gives the United States the absolute advantage.
