One of the more important measures in regard to international economics is the balance of payments. Think of it as a national accounting measure that looks at the flow of goods and services into and out of an economy in a given period of time. It also shows capital flows into and out of a country. Until 1980, the United States tended to run a positive-to-neutral balance of payments position and was a creditor nation. To better understand this short story, I needed to get some background information about the culture of the people and the location of the story. The is Louisiana and the Creole people. This article explains that the history of the creole people is very much so just the story of Louisiana. The “Cajuns” strong mind state and resilience comes from their past. In the 1700’s the creole people were forced out of their homes and speeded around the 13 colonies. Those living in the Dominican area traveled up and settled in Louisiana, they were allowed to stay there by the British parliament. This background is good to know when reading the short story, it helps me relate to the struggle. many ways astronomy is a passive science in that astronomers don’t always get to setup the experiment of their choosing. Instead they must wait for Nature to send it just the right circumstances to test out an existing theory. Recently such an occurrence happened when a quarter-mile size rock passed through the Solar System. The rock appears to have origins from outside our Solar System which means it may have been ejected during the early formation process of some other solar system.
