Many of your friends may think of perception as a passive process. What evidence from the chapter suggests that perception is an active process? Construct an argument for the active nature of perception.
In addition to interacting with organisms, microbes also interact with the environment, and rescue us from the wastes and pollutants that we create. Write a reflective journal on the interaction of Microbes with humans and the environment. You can use the following link to acquaint yourself with the microbiome: http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/microbiome/ Reflect on how the microbes are relevant in your life. How do microbes work with your body? How do your daily activities affect the microbes that shape your immune response during health and disease? In addition to your body, reflect on the role microbes play in the health of the environment and how our actions influence that equilibrium. Pick a different area of interaction to reflect on each week – for example one week reflect on normal microbiota, another week reflect on how microbes are used in the environment or how the antibiotics prescribed to you for a sinus infection last week could have affected your microbiota, etc.
The needs of the pediatric patient differ depending on age, as do the stages of development and the expected assessment findings for each stage. In a paper, examine the needs of a school-aged child between the ages of 5 and 12 years old and discuss the following: Compare the physical assessments among school-aged children. Describe how you would modify assessment techniques to match the age and developmental stage of the child. Choose a child between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. Identify the age of the child and describe the typical developmental stages of children that age. Applying developmental theory based on Erickson, Piaget, or Kohlberg, explain how you would developmentally assess the child. Include how you would offer explanations during the assessment, strategies you would use to gain cooperation, and potential findings from the assessment.
Discuss the definitions of health presented in this chapter in terms of their implications for the health delivery system. Distinguish between illness and disease. How are these concepts related to the medical model of health care delivery? Health promotion and disease prevention may require both behavioral modification and therapeutic intervention. As the country responds to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the role of public health in ensuring the delivery of equitable health care has not been fully appreciated. Based on what you read in this chapter what efforts would you implement to help address this better.
Unit V PowerPoint Presentation Weight: 11% of course grade Grading Rubric Due: Tuesday, 09/01/2020 11:59 PM (CST) Instructions Over the past 40 years, union membership has declined, and it continues to do so. Instead, many companies are turning to alternative dispute resolution. We know one of the best union avoidance tactics is good communication and providing job satisfaction for employees. Create a PowerPoint presentation (with speaker notes) that focuses on unions in the workplace. Address the following concepts in your presentation. Identify the factors that have contributed to the reduction in union membership. Be sure to include the rationale you use in your speaker notes. Evaluate whether or not the reduction in union membership is a good or bad thing for employees in the United States. Be sure to include the rationale you use in your speaker notes. Explain what alternative dispute resolution involves, and identify the pros and cons from the perspective of the employee and the pros and cons from the perspective of the employer. Remember, you want to include the bulk of your explanation in the speaker notes, not on the slide. Describe a situation where employees or managers would want to use some form of alternative dispute resolution such as mediation or arbitration as opposed to direct negotiation or litigation to resolve disputes. Be sure to include the rationale you use in your speaker notes. Explain how each of the seven determinants of job satisfaction (individual personality, the work itself, compensation, growth and upward mobility, coworkers, management, and communication) help to create the type of environment where employees experience job satisfaction. Remember, you want to include the bulk of your explanation in the speaker notes, not on the slide. Be sure to include an introduction and conclusion to your presentation. Include at least two images or graphics in your presentation. Your PowerPoint presentation must be at least eight slides in length, not counting the title or reference slides. Adhere to APA style when constructing this assignment, including in-text citations and references for all sources that are used. ***PLEASE ADHERE TO THE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED & GRADING RUBRIC FOR COMPLETION*** Unit V PowerPoint Presentation Grading Rubric CriteriaAchievement Level Level 1Level 2Level 3Level 4Level 5 Content (60 points) 0 – 35 Missing required content or content requires significant rework. Case Study: Special Education It is important to note that the first reaction most principals have to situations such as the one described in the case study is to deflect blame towards the school district. Although never easy, being a professional means working with what you have and making decisions with the resources available. Metaphorically, throwing your hands in the air and lamenting that the school district is to blame does nothing to address the issues. Successful school leaders develop a holistic perspective that sees the bigger picture. The purpose of this assignment is to address how site administrators can strive to accommodate all stakeholders while taking responsibility for what happens on the school campus. Part 1: Case Analysis Respond to the case study by addressing the following : Brief summary of the case Identify the issues to be resolved Stakeholders involved in the issues One or two existing laws or court rulings that relate to the issues District policies that relate to the issues Possible solutions to the issues The solutions chosen to resolve the issues Action steps (2-5) for implementing each solution, including a timeline for each step Potential moral and legal consequences of each solution Part 2: Rationale Support the case analysis with a 250-500 word rationale explaining the solutions you chose and how each solution: Reflects professional ethics, integrity, and fairness. Promotes social justice and ensures that individual student needs inform all aspects of schooling. Promotes collaboration, trust, learning, and high expectations. Cite the case and any other source documents as appropriate. If possible, share your analysis with your principal mentor and make revisions based on his or her feedback before submitting with Part 1. While APA style format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and any source documents should be referenced using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
+ Do not use an outside source + Use information from here: https://www.prb.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/2018_WPDS.pdf The datasheet is the work of the Population Reference Bureau (paid by USAID of the State Department). Browse through this document. Definitions of column headings are in the index at the end of the document. ANSWER THESE QUESTIONs BELOW 1. Note the population changes between 2018 and 2050 – Indonesia, Pakistan especially stand out, also the Congo, while other countries’ population drops radically off the top 10 charts. List those changes. Are the upcoming (2050) largest countries the ones we/you know most about? What shapes what countries we know and those we don’t? 2. The world is growing older – what will this mean for country budgets (don’t forget that seniors often do volunteer work, including working at voting stations)? Economic development? In which countries are there the largest proportion of old people (65 and above)? Of young people (15 and below)? How can a large proportion of youth benefit countries? If the countries do what? 3. Focus on Age Dependency ratio described on page 3 and practice assessing this important future development by adding up a region or country’s ’15 and below population with the ‘65 and above’. This will give you the ratio of a dependent population. In three regions (such as Europe) or subregions (such as Eastern Europe), which country has an especially large proportion of dependents? 4. Everywhere, with very few exceptions, fertility rates have gone down and continue to do so. Characterize the fertility rate of European countries? Of Latin America? ZPG (or Zero Population Growth or 2.1) is the number of children a woman has in a country to maintain replacement level and its future population steady. Which Asian countries have reached ZPG or are very close to it? 5. And yet from a global population of 7.6 billion in 2018, we expect that the population will grow to 9.9 billion in 2050. In fact the population is growing in the vast majority of countries. Why is that, given lowered fertility rates? Hint: it is not related to migration – in fact, migration is a very small number as you can see in the ‘Net Migration Rate’ column. 6. A reality we must address is that we face an increase of almost 25% more people by 2050. We will all still need to be housed, fed, educated etc. all the while managing ‘smaller’ problems such as covid 19 etc. How should this near certainty guide us, in terms of agriculture, water use, research and development, …? 7. Having answered all previous questions on this handout, reflect and discuss your thoughts about world developments we must anticipate in your lifetime.

The two major organizations of psychologists in the United States are the American Psychological Association (APA), founded over 100 years ago, and the American Psychological Society (APS), founded in 1988. The link below includes a list of divisions of the APA, which reflect the enormous diversity of the field of psychology For the “Discussion #1 Response,” read Chapter 1 of your textbook, then click on the “APA Divisions” link below and review the many areas of psychology. Select two divisions of particular interest to you and examine the information provided on its own site. Then, answer the following questions in your Response: APA Divisions (Links to an external site.) (**click this hyperlink to access the APA website**) PLEASE NOTE: If you have trouble with this hyperlink, can find the necessary information by going to the APA website at www.apa.org, then scroll down the navigation bar to find the icon that takes you to the “Divisions of the APA” page. (1a) Based on material presented in chapter 1 of your textbook and on the APA website, give comprehensive definitions, in your own words, of the field of psychology and of a typical “psychologist.” Is it possible for a psychologist to be focused in an area other than clinical and counseling psychology? Provide evidence to support your answer. (In doing this, explain in what way/s the division may relate to specific content from the book. (1d) Discuss at least two things that you learned &/or two things that surprised you about the field of psychology. Did you find this information in your textbook or from the APA website? What, specifically, about each of these items was of interest to you? (1e) How diverse is the field of psychology? In your opinion, what are the advantages and disadvantages of this? In formulating a “Discussion #1 Reply” to at least one of your classmates, constructively compare your definitions of psychology and psychologists, consider the ways in which other divisions selected relate to each other and to specific chapters of the textbook, and whether or not you believe the diversity is an advantage or disadvantage for the field of psychology. You can ask questions of each other as you explore the field of psychology and/or you may also share other resources related to the field that you may have found during your search. This module has focused on different business costs. For this week’s paper, go to your local grocery store and price the ingredients for baking chocolate chip cookies. For simplicity, assume the ingredients for three dozen cookies are: One 16 oz. box of sugar One 12 oz. bag of chocolate chips One 2 lb. bag of flour One dozen eggs A fixed cost of $30 to rent a kitchen with an oven for a day Assume in an hour you can bake two dozen cookies and that the cost of your time is $10 an hour. In a paper: Calculate the average total cost, average variable cost, average fixed cost, and marginal cost for baking one dozen, two dozen, three dozen, four dozen, five dozen, six dozen, seven dozen, eight dozen, nine dozen, and ten dozen cookies. Show your work for the calculations and create a table with just cost numbers. Create the graphs for each of the cost numbers. Graph them on the same graph. Recalculate the costs assuming the cost to rent the kitchen with an oven dropped to $15. Compare the new calculations with the old calculations.
This is a Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) assignment. Review Chapters 12-14 and the Topic 6 supplemental readings.
