Evaluate the quality of the adaptation of Chinese Mythology and Supernatural

Short writing assignment #2 In the past two weeks of lectures, we encountered Xiaoqian, the ghost girl in “The Magic Sword and the Magic Bag,” and Madame White, the snake lady in “Madam White Is Kept Forever under the Thunder Peak Tower.” After examining the features of these supernatural beings against the premodern cultural contexts, we also get to see the two lady’s performance in the modern drama and film adapted from their stories: “Nie Xiaoqian” and “White Snake.” Please choose ONE of the two stories and compare the chosen story with the respective TV or film adaptation to write a drama or film review.  (The movie chosen for this assignment is White Snake 2019 (this is a short trailer of the movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCY7E0oHW6Y) The story will be uploaded for this assignment, please refer to both the movie and the story to see what is missing in the movie? and why did the film decide to not include it in the movie? For the chosen parts in the movie, why did the director do so? – Requirement: The short paper should be 2-3 pages in length. Please highlight your argument in the first paragraph. Evaluate the quality of the adaptation. You can refer to this link for detailed instructions: http://www1.chapman.edu/~lhall/webpage/index.html Include at least one point of criticism.

Describe the comprehensive test used in your state of Mississippi and give a brief history of its development and implementation.

Analysis of State Test- Use the state of Mississippi Each state has developed a comprehensive test designed to measure students’ reading, writing, math, and science skills. For example, in Florida the name of this comprehensive test is the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA). The FSA is given to all public-school students in Grades 3 through 11. Schools receive an annual grade based on the performance of their students on the FSA. Students at certain grade levels may be retained if the standards are not met. This assignment should address the following issues separately and extensively: a. Describe the comprehensive test used in your state of Mississippi and give a brief history of its development and implementation. Are there any controversies surrounding this test in your state? What type of test is used in your state (examples: norm-referenced, criterion-referenced test)?  b. Select three elementary schools in your school district: one urban, one rural, one suburban. Identify and describe these three schools and the communities in which they are located (e.g. ethnic percentages, socio-economic statistics, mobility of students, SWD, ELLs, etc.) For each school, find the average FSA test scores in reading for Grades 3, 4, and 5.c. Create, and include, on a separate page, a table with one axis for Schools and one axis for Grade Level. d. For each school, list which grade level has the lowest scores and which grade level has the highest scores.  e. Describe the differences you discovered in the reading scores among the grade levels. Give a minimum of two explanations of these differences.  f. Write a conclusion that summarizes the findings in (a – e) in this assignment.

Research methods _ Devah Pager’s experimental audit study

1. Watch this video  (Links to an external site.)  with the sociologist Devah Pager discussing her research on race, employment and a criminal record. 2. In your first post, address 3 things: (a) What is her research question? Identify the variables in her experiment, explaining which are the independent and dependent variables.  (b) Explain why this specific methodology – an experimental audit study – was necessary to scientifically investigate the relationship among variables presented in her research question. (c) Why are the findings of this scientific experiment important? What do they help us better understand about how our society works? Be sure to label each part of your post (a), (b) and (c).  As always, end your post with a sociological question about Pager’s work. Avoid ethical questions (should/good/bad) and instead try to ask as an empirical sociological question about what her findings reveal. 3. In your reply post, reply to another student’s question. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUZqvsF_Wt0&ab_channel=StanfordCenteronPovertyandInequality

Do you think the government can provide goods and services to the public as efficiently as or better than the private sector?

Discussion Question 1: Many would argue that in a capitalistic economy, the government cannot provide goods and services as efficiently as the private sector. For example, most arguments for and against the Affordable Health Care Act center on the efficiency of the government in managing and operating a health care system. Do you think the government can provide goods and services to the public as efficiently as or better than the private sector? Justify your answer.

Discuss the major population policy concerns of the governments in the less developed regions (LDR) compared to those in the more developed region (MDR).

Pick one country from the LDR and one from MDR and give specific examples from class materials. In your answer describe the different of LDR and MDR. Why do these concerns differ, and why have they changed over time? I have attached a rubric the only source that needs to be use is this book: Anderson. 2014. World Population Dynamics: An Introduction to Demography. Pearson. ISBN: 9780205742035. Assignment grades are based on your demonstration of comprehension and synthesis of the assigned material.
